Mum knows best ?

Hey everyone !

Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with being pregnant ( all the hormones and craziness that goes along with this ) , has a young child and a mum who refuses to accept that there is more than one way to raise children ?

Constantly having to validate my parenting style and my mum repeatedly making it about her and the fact she raised myself and my sister sooo she knows everything apparently ?

Mums going through menopause and my preggo hormones aren’t helping !

Personally I found that my mother did know best!

Her advice and support was hugely beneficial to me when I had my first baby.

But, she didn’t ram it at me, if I asked she would tell me what she did and it worked for me so I was always grateful to listen to what she had to say and her way of thinking about raising babies fitted with my views.

I wish that was the case for us !

I do ask for my mums advice on certain things And I especially made a conscious effort to do so when my son was just born as my mum kept saying how she felt like I would need her more , but Myself and my husband wanted to figure things out for ourselves and work out who we would be as parents.
I just find she keeps linking everything back to herself , even after giving birth to my son , I had to basically keep checking up on my mum, she was extremely anxious and acting irrationally ( she said it was because I was going through something traumatic ) I had a great pregnancy and labour and recovered very quickly afterwards !

Nope.

I generally ignored or did the opposite to any parenting advice from my mum.

My dad on the other hand, has been the surprising voice of sense and reason since having children.
