Chest infections - “reduced air entry”

Hi, I’m a bit worried about my mum who’s been getting lots of chest infections. She’s been referred for a scan and she said the docs all tell her they can hear “reduced air entry”. Obviously I am worrying, what does this mean please? Thanks.

It means exactly what it says- normally you can hear breath sounds when you listen front & back if the chest. If things sound quieter than normal then there are said to be reduced breath sounds. As a sign on its own though it doesn’t really tell you much in terms of diagnosis so that’s probably why they’re doing the scan.

Thanks very much. I think I was wondering if there were any obvious diagnoses based on what GP is saying, thanks again.
