Demonising red and processed meat?

Its funny how it tethers "red" meat (like a steak) with "processed" meat (like sausages or bacon).

I have watched with concern as this incredible nutrient-dense animal protein (which humans have ingested since the beginning of time) has been disparaged in the press over the past couple of years; it has now become the new "fat" which was also demonised in the 70s and wrongly removed from foods with disastrous effect to health.

We were (and still are) encouraged to eat a plethora of processed 'low fat' alternative substances which raise our blood sugars and make us ill (certainly made me ill).

Now, the programme switches the vilifying of "fat" for "red/processed meat" and explores the growing the production of artificial, chemically processed substances that (apparently) mimic meat?

I am horrified, because I am pretty certain that vegetarians or even vegans would not touch this awful stuff.

I noticed that the meat being touted as bad for health was bacon in a margarine spread bun with tomato sauce. It was assumed that it was the bacon that was the "bad" food and not the chemical sh1tstorm margarine (have you seen the ingredients?), processed additive-stuffed bread (full of chemicals to increase shelf-life) and sugar-filled tomato sauce. Me, I eat bacon but not that other stuff, ever.

Then, that woman talking about nutrients in meat didn't mention B12. That was particularly interesting as this vital nutrient is found in red meat and should be supplemented by people who don't consume it. (It's involved in the development of red blood cells, maintains nerves and normal brain function).

I was happier to hear about the Horned Beef Company and their regenerative farming methods, a throwback to how we used to farm many years ago, in tandem with the earth.

I know that there is a growing movement to return to this type of farming; cows and other ruminants are vital to sequestering our soils which have been severely damaged by excess ploughing, pesticides and chemical processes which destroy entire ecosystems which are in turn essential to maintaining the life cycle (bacteria, worms, insects, wildlife, bird populations etc).
