Dreamland (Margate)

Someone is having a birthday party at Dreamland in Margate. We’ve never been but there are some concerning reviews on tripadvisor re safety.

Has anyone been? The party is for 5 year olds.

Sorry, should have said namechanged for this.

I’m thinking it might not be a safe play to go...?

Why wouldn't it be safe?

I went there last summer and have no concerns about it?

The scenic railway is a lot of fun!!!

What are the concerns OP? Are they repetitive?

Concerns are about reviews that say the rides are only allowed to be half full because of Health and Safety. One parent said they were told the brakes didn’t work very well on a ride if it was full to capacity.

This also means that the queues were long...

“Scenic railway max of 14 per ride expect massive wait, don't bother if you are on a coach you will still be in the queue when coach leaves! Big wheel max of 8 pods to be used per ride, twice round then get off! Chairoplane 7 people on it but big queue!”

It’s a lovely park with lots to see. To be honest most 5 year olds won’t be old enough or tall enough for many of the rides. Stick with the tea cups and the slide and just enjoy looking round. We never go on any rides and always have a great time. Softplay is great too, are you sure it’s not a softplay party?

I don't think at 5 there will be many of the rides that are suitable anyway, as PP have said. Presumably it's none of the ones higher off the ground that I assume the (alleged, online) safety issue concerns so even if that were true OP, that very likely isn't going to be anything to do with what they're doing.

I'd park in the town centre multi storey though, dreamland parking is expensive for short stay relative to the other car park.

If it's in the octopus's garden we were there yesterday and it's wonderful

Thanks all. Invitation just said Dreamland but didn’t know they did softplay parties! What’s the Octopuses Garden?

Googled, it’s the soft play area. I shall ask if thAt is where it is.
