Cost of afternoon out with kids

Last Sunday we took Ds 11 and Dd 4 out for the afternoon. Lunch first BK then visited a free museum and finished with a movie at a Vue cinema. All together cost around £60 which I thought was very reasonable for the 4 of us. It got us out of the house for a good 5 hours and we all had a nice time.

So MIL visiting last night and we were telling her what we'd been up to and DH moans how expensive the day out was and MIL agreed. I don't think £15 per head is expensive. What do others think is this excessive?

I don't think you can complain about £60. They need to start living in the real world.

We took the DC out to a local farm at the weekend. It cost us £40 to get in and that was with a £10 discount voucher so would’ve usually been £50. We saw some pigs, cows, goats, llamas, one donkey and one horse plus some sheep in the field and a few meerkats and reptiles (bit random). They also had a softplay bit so the DC were entertained in there for an hour but then wanted lunch which was a further £50 for the five of us...

They have extra bits dotted around like a tractor ride, gift shop etc. Honestly, the owners must make an absolute killing. I considered that very expensive and wouldn’t rush back there in a hurry.

Your day was expensive because of the cinema which yes, I do consider expensive nowadays. I only take my DC as a very special treat and I take snacks with me.

I probably would have broken up the day into 2 days but that’s just me and actually it doesn’t sound expensive as nice treat day.

We have a standing joke, everything always ends up costing about £100
