I do, but I fully accept that they don’t need to be!

RebeccaCloud9 · 04/06/2019 10:33

No

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 04/06/2019 10:34

Are you in UK?

No need. Also if you’re baking etc they should be at room temp before using them.

If it’s really hot I do tend to stick them in the fridge, but only if I’m planning on poaching or frying them.

dementedpixie · 04/06/2019 10:42

I keep them in the fridge, just because there is an egg holder in there and it saves stuff being on the worktop

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 04/06/2019 10:48

No.

moonpiggle · 04/06/2019 10:53

No

ImMeantToBeWorking · 04/06/2019 10:54

I keep them uncooked out of the fridge, cooked in the fridge.

bingoitsadingo · 04/06/2019 10:56

No, it makes the membrane inside shrink away from the shell slightly which sucks any dirt/bugs on the outside through the shell. Which makes them more likely to go off.

If you wash them (also unnecessary in the UK) then you should keep them in the fridge as the shell becomes permeable.

sue51 · 04/06/2019 10:57

Not.

TwitterQueen1 · 04/06/2019 10:58

Thank you!

I put them in fridge because I flat share and there is not much room. They are safer in the fridge though I know they are best used at room temp.

Hotterthanahotthing · 04/06/2019 13:37

Room temp,I have a small basket on the window sill.

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/06/2019 13:38

I have a wee wooden egg cupboard on my windowsill for them

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/06/2019 13:39

I do but know it’s a) not needed and b) I shouldn’t - makes boiled eggs more difficult to peel and makes scrambled eggs less uniform, apparently.

DP is from the US where commercial eggs have to be kept refrigerated for safety (not vaccinated? Farmed differently?) and when he moved to the UK he went without eggs for weeks because he couldn’t find them in the chilled section, couldn’t find a specialist egg shop, and was too proud to ask somebody what we did with our eggs!

Strugglingtodomybest · 04/06/2019 13:49

Not

Flower777 · 04/06/2019 14:24

I live in Canada but am from the UK so I keep my eggs outside the fridge

Should I be keeping them in the fridge?!

Nothing bad has happened yet though....

blushmelikeyou · 04/06/2019 14:31

I keep mine in the fridge. Never had a problem cooking whatever I want with them.

MustardScreams · 04/06/2019 14:33

@ComtesseDeSpair US eggs are washed which removes the protective outer layer and so must be refrigerated. UK eggs aren’t so they’re fine out of a fridge.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 04/06/2019 15:41

No. They are not in the fridge in the shop, are they? I just keep them on the worktop.
