Have a dentist appointment soon so getting ready took 2 paracetamol ahead of it as helps the discomfort. Then put my glasses on and realised I'd taken 2 sleeping tablets (Boots Sleepeze 1 a night ones) I can't safely drive to dentist when these kick in- do I cancel or get a cab? Ah fuck, should I call the NHS thingy re the accidental double dose?

We’ll probably not hear from the OP for the next 20hrs. zzzzzz

I think Boots Sleepeze wouldn't have much effect.

whyohwhyowhydididoit · 04/06/2019 12:38

I think it’s a very good idea to take paracetamol before a potentially painful procedure. Much more sensible than waiting for the pain to kick in and then taking one.

@RosaWaiting I’m not too sure if it would. It was prescribed to me to force me to relax and ease up muscle spasms. As I’d accidentally taken double my normal dosage it made me so drowsy I fell asleep. Always worth researching if it might help you?

I don't think that taking painkillers just in case is a good idea at all. Most dentists don't tend to do procedure without any kind of pain relief.

As someone who had to have dental treatment whilst pregnant, so without anaesthetic, I can tell you that the paracetamol does bugger all anyway but it was the only safe-ish option for my baby.

AlexaAmbidextra · 04/06/2019 13:15

Someone’s calling it an overdose and suggesting 111? 😄

thefuriousfuggler · 04/06/2019 13:20

Ooops - apologies @Gardai!
Thanks for the clarification @RosaWaiting

Note to self - RTFT.

popsuey · 04/06/2019 13:23

The poster suggesting you call 111 for an overdose is being ridiculous. It's an antihistamine FFS. It doesn't even work by the way (insomniac here). You'll be fine OP - worst that will happen is you'll feel a bit drowsy.

Seeingadistance · 04/06/2019 13:25

This has reminded me to make an appointment with the optician.

Hope you are having a lovely snooze, OP!

Wherearemyminions · 04/06/2019 13:55

Well I tried not to but ended up falling asleep :) I was booked for a deep clean, and the dentist recommended taking some painkillers beforehand. God I feel such an idiot. I usually take half a tablet on the odd occasion to help me to get to sleep.

@popsuey OP said they were sleeping tablets.
Surely it's better to be safe than sorry anyway?

Two sleeping tablets would still not constitute an overdose.

LoveMyNewHome · 04/06/2019 23:32

What a pity. No reason to cancel the appointment, you should have just got a cab!

Chanandlersbong · 05/06/2019 00:09

I'd have got the cab, had a snooze while dentist did my teeth and remembered nothing about it. Winning!
