Positive Bodily Changes After Having a Baby

Often as a Mum we're consumed with negative changes to our bodies after having a child, ie. stretch marks, saggy boobs etc ! But how about we list some POSITIVES, changes we actually like? I'll go first, I like my belly button now lol, before it was really small and really 'inny' now it's bigger , flatter, and my belly bar jewel looks much nicer in it! Also this is amusing but since having kids I don't have a lot of time to do my hair (wash blow dry straighten) so it's in MUCH better condition, really long and thick, because it's not being damaged from styling. Could never grow my hair below my shoulders but now it's below my boobs!

My body has changed bizarrely little, and I am quite pleased! (My boobs grew a bit, but then quickly deflated about 6 months pp - well done to those of you who got to keep them!.)

My boobs have never shrunk (4 years on) and look pornographic!

11 weeks in and I don’t think I have anything to add. Encouraging that some of you do!!

My body has changed for the worse in so many ways, but I no longer care. Having my son had made me realise that my body image is at the bottom of a whole host of things to be worried about! So not a positive body change, but a change in my way of thinking.

I have better legs now. Not directly to do with having a baby but I wouldn't have started running if I hadn't put on so much weight after having DD

cattaxi · 06/06/2019 09:09

My skin is do much better. I used tin break out every month around ovulation. I’ve barely had a spot since my first pregnancy 4 years ago 🙂

Hayls17 · 06/06/2019 09:13

My boobs have gone from D cup before pregnancy to F cup afterwards. Not as perky but they still look good if I’m lying down 🤣

BearRabbitPants · 06/06/2019 09:16

Jealous of all the mummy's with great boobies! Grin when DD is 3 ish I'm booking in for an uplift! I don't mind their size but my word they're saggy Sad.

@Lilac3 I suffered with the hair loss after DS, it grew back but in lots of tiny tufts all over my head & took about a year to recover. I've suffered a bit this time with DD but no where near as badly. Luckily I have loads of long hair so it's not overly noticeable. And I agree when you're a mum you do tend to stock up on the veggies and fruits & be active all the time!

@Goodenough06 soon enough your bundle will be here keeping you on your toes along with your other LO & you'll be feeling much more normal again. It is horrible the last part of pregnancy. My DD is 14 weeks old now but I remember the huge whale like feeling like it was yesterday lol

My periods are lighter and barely painful now. Worth it!

Housewife2010 · 06/06/2019 10:03

Being able to wear black paper pants Blessed. 😆

StyleOfTheTimes · 06/06/2019 11:00

Much like redbedheadd I’m 4 months pp and I’m struggling to like anything about my body. But I’ve started working out and eating healthier so hopefully I can enjoy my body. One positive thing is I’m now, ahem, tighter than before 🤣 according to my dh. All my tears were internal so I got stitched up quite a bit.

I'm so much more comfortable in my skin than I was before having 2 DC! Genuinely, miles happier and amazed that I produced people! I feel lucky that I don't have any stretch marks, and everything's absolutely fine in the unmentionables, despite a forceps birth and a natural birth of a big baby! I'm well jel of all the good hair and skin stories though - my hair still sheds and breaks very easily, and is annoyingly even curlier than before. My skin is terrible! I've just given up sugar to try to help it.
