Breastfeeding hand hold? I'm bloody so sore!

For the last week, breastfeeding has been incredibly uncomfortable. It feels like there is a hoover on my nipple each time. I really shudder each time my son latches.

Can anyone advise what's happening? I've never ever had even so much as a sore nipples from breastfeeding before.

DS is 18 months and definitely doesn't seem to be teething, etc.

What's going on? Envy

Could it be thrush? Also could you be ovulating or pregnant?

MulesToJoules · 03/06/2019 16:16

Forget to add that he isn't biting or throwing his head back so no idea why the latch is so painful Sad

Ah I'm sorry. BFing is so harsh.
Can you speak to your HV? Mine was incredibly helpful. Also I self referred to an NHS breastfeeding counsellor. Also look to see if your area has a La Leche League meeting you could attend?
Kelly mom.com has loads of info too.
Good luck Flowers

Sounds like thrush. Are tbe end of your nipples quite white?

whoisyou · 03/06/2019 16:18

Have you had your periods back yet? Ovulation used to make bf really sore for me.

BertieBotts · 03/06/2019 16:19

Pregnant or ovulating maybe?

MulesToJoules · 03/06/2019 16:24

Not thrush, no. Well at least I don't think it is. Nipples look normal to me.

Not ovulating I don't believe, but I suppose it's a possibly? Then again, it's been going on for over a week and ovulation doesn't last that long!

Shouldn't be pregnant, no Envy

You can get nipple shields off Amazon, could be worth a try.
