To be miffed at ASDA baby clothes selection

I have a DS whose 22 months and I'm pregnant with a girl.

My local ASDA has loads and loads of girls clothes and not much for boys which was always annoying but there's lots I like for him.

I thought today I would buy something for the baby thinking ild struggle to choose but literally found 1 thing out of all of it. Everything seemed to be pink ditsy flower print.
I'm not even against pink but it was all muted colours and pastels. Where's the bright colours even a Fuchsia pink would be better

I have a DS and it always pisses me off there being so much more choice for girls than boys.

TerribleTwosPhase · 01/06/2019 21:36

I think it must depend on the range/season. I like pastel colours on DD but a few months ago my local asda was full of black, fuschia, navy and mustard. I think it just depends on what range they have in at that time.

same, have a boy - everything is for girls!! even online its a crap choice, end up at morrisons!

I'm glad it's not just be that has found this about the boys clothes.

Maybe I caught the girls clothes wrong, hopefully by the time she comes they'll be a new selection

I know what you mean, I have a DD and I like her in pink but not all pink all the time. Asda particularly bad I agree. I guess it to encourage us to buy more as it can't really be handed down between mixed sex siblings?

Tiredmum100 · 01/06/2019 21:44

It's one of my pet hates- the children's clothing sections in shops. I have two boys, I've taken to counting the differences when I'm looking for things for them i.e shoe racks for girls 4/5 boys 1. Once counted 9 different swim costumes for girls only 2 for boys. It's the same everywhere you go rail after rail for girls. Before anyone suggests I can buy 'girls' clothes for my boys I could, but they wouldn't wear them do that's not an option. I do usually find Asda have a good selection. Next have nice girls clothes, not all pink!

TerribleTwosPhase · 01/06/2019 21:46

I think in summer the colours tend to be more pink/pastel. Morrisons had a lot of bright coral, yellow and blues the other day, might be worth looking there Smile

Chilledout11 · 01/06/2019 21:47

I have two boys and unless I go to next it's all quite similar. That said I love asda for value and some nice bright clothes for boys.

preggersteach · 01/06/2019 21:53

The older boys (I'm talking not baby) seem to be quite colourful but every time I go into asda to look at clothes for my 10mo its 95% grey or navy, so dull!

Fantababy · 01/06/2019 22:56

Morrisons are very good - lots of yellow in the summer, mustard, wines, etc in winter. Sainsbury's also have a lot of different colours for girls. I definitely buy much less for DD in Asda but not sure if that's just the pink thing. Folk must be buying it though.

KimchiLaLa · 01/06/2019 22:58

I get annoyed at how everything in ASDA is pink and frilly. I mean sometimes pink is ok but sometimes I just want a neutral tone.

PivotPivotPivottt · 01/06/2019 22:59

Asda baby clothes are pretty much all pink. Didn't bother me i love their stuff but Tesco always has a much bigger choice of brighter colours .

NCBabyBoy · 01/06/2019 23:03

I went into a large ASDA to get an emergency pack of vests for DS. There were equal amounts of boy and girl clothing, but the boys' stuff was all grey and navy, soooo boring! There was hardly anything unisex, and what there was was white. And everything comes up a size smaller than the label says too. Do not recommend.

kidsmakesomuchwashing · 01/06/2019 23:06

I agree that most shops seem to stock more girls items than boys items. But having said that I always seem to find something nice in the boys sections despite it being smaller. I struggle with girls clothes because im not keen on pink!

DilysMoon · 01/06/2019 23:08

Agree but not just Asda, shops in general. Was always miffed at the smaller selection for my DS's compared to the girls section however once DD came along I realised that there still isnt much choice as I dislike so much of what is out there colour or style wise. Also now that she's 4 it's all fashion clothes that imo are for much older girls - cold shoulder tops, denim jackets etc. I find Sainsburys better, H&M sometimes M&S.

Yellowcar2 · 01/06/2019 23:09

I buy lots for my DS and 2 DDs from Sainsburys they have a great range and quite regularly have there 25% off all clothing sales. I think a sale is on at the moment.

yermawyabas · 01/06/2019 23:20

Primary for girls clothes is brilliant. Lots of bright colours to choose from.

ReganSomerset · 01/06/2019 23:28

Shop elsewhere, OP. Sometimes there are nice clothes, but generally I'm not a fan of asda's selection. I did get DD some adorable orange and blue Taz looney tunes pyjamas from there though.
