Would I look like I was trying to be the bride?

Going on a hen do tomorrow for my cousin’s fiancée (whom we all love very much). It’s just a quiet day at a local spa, family members only: bride, her sister and mum, my aunties, my female cousins, my granny.

So we’re going to be lounging around in our swimwear for a few hours. As a very pale, palest of all the pales with my blindingly pale skin, I always slather on factor 50 and stay out of the sun on really hot days. However, today, I had to drive for a couple of hours right in the heat of the day. And even with my factor 50, I’ve got a fantastic case of “Driver’s Arm” on one arm Confused

Don’t want to look silly around the pool tomorrow, so I thought that when I’m not swimming, I could wear my beach cover-up. It looks like an oversized work shirt, kind of like the one in the picture, but without a waist tie.

HOWEVER... would I look like I was trying to be the bride if I wore a white beach cover-up?? I don’t want to do anything to detract from the bride.

Can I have some opinions, please?

No. Hmm

It's not a wedding, don't worry.

AdaColeman · 31/05/2019 21:57

It's a hen do, not the wedding, so wearing white will be fine.

🤣. Say what? It’s the Hen do, at a Spa.

A joke thread surely?!

No, I was genuinely worried! You see people on mumsnet freaking out all the time about people wearing a speck of white to a wedding, and since this is related to the wedding, I didn’t want to be a dick!

On one hand no you would definitely not, it's not a wedding, it's just a casual white top and it sounds like the bride to be is not a diva.
On the other hand I have had a family wedding recently and EVERYTHING was PHOTOGRAPHED and STAGED and put on social media and I think generally it's all gone a bit nuts. So I can see why you've asked the question.

I had a white cover up to wear in Ibiza at a hen do and was told by the bridesmaids under no circumstances was I allowed to wear it Hmm so no white at a hen do can be a thing sometimes! I'd take it but double check before wearing it because some people are odd about these things.
