Will Aldi and Lidl really help me cut my shopping bill?

I’ve just budgeted based on last months spending which the groceries were excessive

I don’t waste food and do online shopping so not tempted by extras when wandering around the isles but I still need to cut back

Will Aldi and Lidl really save me much money over Sainsbury’s / Tesco’s shopping?

I’ve tried Asda but the quality of most of the fresh food was so poor a lot got wasted so wasn’t any better going there

God yeah! I didn't believe it until I did a big shop at Aldi!

I haven't read the full thread... but just the title prompted me to reply!

I was spending £130+ a week at Tesco for just me and DD (4) alone... absolute madness!

Aldi hasn't long opened in my town and on average, for the same shop + more it's £50-£60 😱

Plus a lot of their food I think is of higher quality eg chicken breasts x

Like a PP I check all stores to see where I can get what I need cheapest - obviously it helps that I live in a town with a variety of shops (B&M's, home bargains, savers, farmfoods, Iceland, Aldi, Lidl, Tesco x2, Asda x2, Sainsbury's) if you live out in the sticks with one supermarket within driving distance it's not worthwhile.

This morning I'll be doing the food shop in Aldi, Asda & Tesco (approx £40 for me & DD but £15-20 is meat for monthly freezer stock up) with a trip to savers for DD's shower gel & farmfoods as they have 130 wash surf powder on 2 for £20 & this will last me approx 8 months (I keep a fund for bargains so doesn't come out of weekly budget). They also do a really good toilet roll (18 pack) 3 for £11 but my mum buys 6 at a time & gives one to me & my 2 brothers every time we visit I haven't bought loo roll this year.
