We live in a narrow type of urban road, terraced houses with cars parked both sides of the road with a few having drop down kerbs.
A few years ago the council put speed bumps in.
Initially, I thought it would be great, it would really have an impact on the cars that speed...
Not so much it would seem.
Some of the worst offenders are lorries (some with skips on the back) and vans which seem to drive at the bumps and the impact can be felt through our house as we are so close to the street. Other drivers too take the bumps on like a challenge and occassionaly clear the ground and land with a thump on the other side.
Although it has calmed some of the traffic, it has sod all impact on enough of it for me to think it has a beneficial effect.
Has anyone seen benefits or is sthere something else can be done?
I don't think heavy lorries should be allowed down such a narrow street (things bigger than an average white van)
The street gets really congested and there have been many road rage incidents.
We have peitioned for a CPZ but I don;t think thats going to impact the traffic itself.
What do you think?
