In conversation with my 8 year old grandson, he was fascinated by the children who worked during the Victorian era in factories. Does any one know of a book I could buy him that is specifically about this.

My dd loves the ‘my story’ series. They are written by different authors and the one about Victorians in called Factory Girl by Pamela Oldfield.

They are tricky to get hold of individually as they are often so,d in a box set. Sometimes the Book People have them.

Are you on twitter? There are lots of historians on there who could make recommendations, including Greg Jenner who did the 'horrible histories' series.

Not on Twitter, just about mastered email and mumsnet. GD, 6, had to show me how to answer my new phone today.”slide it across Nanny”.

The Horrible History books are brilliant.
There are probably loads published by Usborne Books.

Just had a look -
Your local bookshop would be able to order them for you or you can order them online via www.Hive.co.uk to collect

This one is Usborne. Age 8+. Haven't personally read this one but Usborne Books are usually excellent.

Has he read the Vile Victorians book from Horrible Histories? This was the book that inspired my love of the Victorian era. It’s not specifically about children in factories but there is quite a lot about childhood workplaces (factories/ mines/ domestic settings)- a good mix of factual information and a short story too.
