Just that really, my hob has been giving up the past year but finally died tonight.

Gonna order one tonight, shall I go for induction?

I always go for gas.

KittyMcKitty · 29/05/2019 20:27

Yes induction any day! But you get what you pay for - good quality hob and good quality pans.

soarin · 29/05/2019 20:27

Oh should of said we don't have gas supply, would be moving from an electric ceramic one x

I like my induction job. Remember you may need to buy new pans if yours aren't compatible

SallyOMalley · 29/05/2019 20:29

We've just had a new kitchen fitted and have gone for a Neff induction hob. Love it!

Orangepear · 29/05/2019 20:33

I've got a cheapish induction and it boils water much faster than my previous electric hob. I think cheap is okay with induction unless you're likely to use all the rings at once.

ParadiseLaundry · 29/05/2019 20:41

By the fact it's so much easier to clean, definitely go with induction!

gobbin · 29/05/2019 20:41

Yep. We’ve got a no frills Belling and it’s great. IKEA stainless steel pans are my favourite.

Pooshy · 29/05/2019 20:44

100% induction

So much easier to clean, safer as no flame and pans don't get hot thru heat but thru magnetics (or something)

And you can use it as another surface when not in use

Nothingoriginalhere · 29/05/2019 20:44

We have had our neff induction hob for over 5 yrs now - I absolutely love it! Wont have anything else ever now ( had gas before)
Super easy to clean and looks modern and sleek and works so fast

Worried2987 · 29/05/2019 20:54

I loved my induction. Am now stuck with ceramic hob as there isn't enough voltage in the circuit to replace with induction (it's on same circuit as the oven)

soarin · 29/05/2019 20:56

Oh excellent, re brands I can't afford miele which match our other applicable (DH used to work in the industry and got amazing discount) so thinking neff or bosch, any aversions to any?

Have had my Siemens induction for just over a week, had gas before, I love it, so easy to use, would never go back to gas.

KittyMcKitty · 29/05/2019 21:01

Ours is a Siemens and is great.

This range from Le Creuset are the best pans ever: www.lecreuset.co.uk/3-ply-stainless-steel-deep-casserole

MarieG10 · 29/05/2019 21:13

Got AEG induction. Love it but they need a dedicated circuit. Often you can used the oven circuit as many now don't need their own main supply and can go on the kitchen main

Updatingmywill · 29/05/2019 21:52

I love my induction hob - easy to clean, quick to heat, turns off instantly - and will turn itself off if a pan boils over onto the controls. I also love being able to set a timer on a pan to turn off by itself. Dh offered to replace it with a gas hob but I would not go back to gas.

ColinKnocksTwoPence · 29/05/2019 21:56

I have a Rangemaster induction and love it.
Fast and clean though you do have to take care not to scratch the glass surface.
It was a good excuse to ditch my manlky old aluminium pans as well !

TitusP · 29/05/2019 21:59

I struggled for the first week with my induction hob but now I've got to grips with it, I love it and would never have anything else! Mine was bought in a clearance sale so we got it cheap but it's a mid range one and has more functions than I know what to do with. I couldn't imagine needing a fancier one.

Updatingmywill · 29/05/2019 22:01

Forgot to say - I did have to buy some new pans and I went for a range from Ikea called Sensuell. Not too expensive and work very well.

You can check if your existing pans would work by seeing if a magnet will stick to them.

Soontobe60 · 29/05/2019 22:03

I love mine too, but my only issue is when you have all four rings going on full at once it makes a loud clicking noise and seems to work in 'waves'

EasilyDistracted77 · 29/05/2019 22:11

Switching from ceramic to induction hob was a revelation! It's unbelievable how quickly it boils a pan of water! We always used to boil the kettle and fill the pan. We have a Bosch, reasonably priced and no issues other than buying new pans.

Witchend · 29/05/2019 22:13

Induction every time.

When dh said he wanted induction I was between sceptical and extremely sceptical. I was won over within the first day of using it.
Even my parents (who don't like new inventions) were won over on their first visit to replace theirs-first time anything's been replaces before about 5 years after it wore out. Grin

notacooldad · 29/05/2019 22:15

I love our induction.
It was a relatively cheap one about 5 or 6 years ago but it great.

Solasum · 29/05/2019 22:16

I love mine too, despite previously being a gas devotee

YouBumder · 29/05/2019 22:17

Yes I love ours and would never go back to gas.
