I need some new bras... Also no idea of my size anymore.

Could you give me suggestions of were to go? Matalan? Asda? Tesco? Tu?

Debenhams always has a good range.

@EskewedBeef There isn't one in my town. :(

Thanks for the calculator Demented It suggests I am a 34F of nork. Would that also be a 36E?

34F and 36E are "sister sizes" - not the same, but if you are trying the same bra on in 2 sizes, it makes sense to go up one in the band / down one in the cup. I'm a a 34F and usually buy Freya or Fantasie bras (most department stores have them, often on sale), or Debenhams own brand.

TaurielTest · 29/05/2019 15:06

I have had a good bra from Tu's DD+ range - and they have their 25% off at the mo. tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/c/women/dd-bras?INITD=GNav-WW-DDLingerie

My boob or bust measurements were:
33tight
34snug
40standing
41leaning

34 F is a really good size to be! You'll find it in most supermarket DD+ ranges for about £6 - £10 per bra. Just remember to do a band test first (Asda in particular have very stretchy bands) and if you go down a band size, go up a cup size (so either to FF or G, if the brand doesn't do FF which a lot of supermarkets and M&S miss out for some reason!)

That calculator gives me 32E which is way off!

I’m a 34C and never have problem buying a bra that fits well.

Since I was a young woman I have only ever had 3 bra sizes and all were accurate.

32a then heavily pregnant/breastfeeding went to a D cup then after my last child finished breastfeeding I went to a 34c and have been for nearly 25 years. Bra’s fit perfectly.

That calculator is completely wrong for me. Must admit I often don’t wear a bra and I certainly couldn’t do that if I was an E cup as that calculator suggests.

dementedpixie · 29/05/2019 16:00

It's not that far off tbh. It just gives a starting point. There is about 2 cup sizes difference between the 2 which is only 2 inches. 34C = 32D with regards to cup volume.

If you measure 32 under your bust then 32 is your back size.

BarbaraofSevillle · 29/05/2019 16:02

If you can afford it, I really would recommend going to Bravissimo or an independent lingerie specialist.

Not all manufacturers make to the same size and just because your measurements indicate a size, doesn't necessarily dictate that is your size, it's just an approximation. Also different styles work for different shapes and specialist shops know this.

They can look at you and know your size and what styles will fit best. And you just get to sit in the changing room in a dressing gown while they run in and out gathering up the styles and sizes. And if you need more than one bra, you could just get one from the shop and see if you can find more of the same style cheaper online if cost is an issue.

Soola · 29/05/2019 16:12

@dementedpixie

Maybe it’s me then as I just envisage E cup to be quite large boobs! I had a friend who was an F cup and we used to joke that hers used to enter a room five minutes before she did!

Ok, next time I’m out I will try a 32E on and report back. I’m not convinced though!

BarbaraofSevillle · 29/05/2019 16:14

An E on a small back really is quite small. I'm a 32FF/32G and they're medium at best.

dementedpixie · 29/05/2019 16:15

An E cup on a 32 back is totally different to an E cup on a 36 back as the cup size relates to the back size. I'll find a picture that illustrates this

Megan2018 · 29/05/2019 16:17

@Soola I was convinced I was a 34B for years - turns out I was a 32D. Then became a 32DD.

The difference in comfort between the 34B and 32D was huge - and I have small boobs. Most people are wearing too big a band, too small a cup but are conditioned to think that DD or E cups are massive. They aren't if the band is small. I expect your F cup friend was also in the wrong size!

cjt110 · 29/05/2019 16:19

Tu have 25% off at the mo!

Do i just order online and hope for the best or go in? Are you allowed to return bras?
