Butter
If I only had a few dollars left, I'd still buy butter.
Not margarine, not 20-80 spread, just real pure butter.

Anything else, I'll do without, or by a substitute, etc

What is your "I'm not going without" thing?

free range eggs (my Ex used to moan about the cost but I will not have caged hens eggs in the house);
I agree with you on decent butter!

Charm23 · 29/05/2019 11:33

Free Range Eggs - will not buy eggs from caged hens
Galaxy or Lindt Chocolate - I'd go without rather than eat Cadbury
Tampons - Tampax Pearl are the absolute best (but pg now so no need :D)

IShitGlitter · 29/05/2019 11:33

free range eggs
Yorkshire tea
pink lady apples

LadyRannaldini · 29/05/2019 11:33

Green and Blacks hot chocolate. Cadbury's is good enough for the grandchildren!

WildFlower2019 · 29/05/2019 11:35

Tomatoes on the vine

Baked beans (I only like Branston)

Tapenade 🤣 the difference between the £3 and £1 jars is very noticeable

Eggs - but for welfare reasons

That makes me sound very middle class but we literally buy the cheapest versions of pretty much everything else! I love Tesco's or Aldi's cheapest spaghetti and ketchup for example. I won't buy anything with a brand name usually. Cleaning products etc are usually cheapest supermarket brands too.

ilikemethewayiam · 29/05/2019 11:35

Real Hellman’s Mayo
M&S empress grey T Bags

WildFlower2019 · 29/05/2019 11:35

Ooh god yeah, Yorkshire tea too! But if I had no money I'd just drink the cheapest version (or tap water)

viques · 29/05/2019 11:36

Organic butter and organic milk.

Posh soap (OK from TKMAXX reduced shelves, damaged packets, but lovely soap inside)

daisypond · 29/05/2019 11:36

Free range eggs. Would not buy eggs at all otherwise.

haverhill · 29/05/2019 11:37

Ketchup
Tea
Bread
Baked beans
Eggs
Meat

DarlingNikita · 29/05/2019 11:38

Oh, and having a cleaner. Best money I spend.

AsGoodAsTinaFey · 29/05/2019 11:42

I actually prefer spread to butter. Blush
But free range stuff, PG tips, Heinz beans (don't even eat them a lot but can't comprehend getting another brand)

Also, Congratulations Charm23! Smile

Eliza9919 · 29/05/2019 11:43

Teabags. I like Twinnings.
Toilet roll. We now have Andrex.
Real butter. Going to try the farm shop buter next time I go.
Good boots, I generally only buy Timberland now.
Good winter coats, I like Trespass.
Eggs. Prefer duck eggs from the farm now.
Honey. Local, from the farm shop, same as oil, mustard, chutney and cheese.

Eliza9919 · 29/05/2019 11:44

*butter

Gingerkittykat · 29/05/2019 11:44

Butter, coffee, bread and cheese.

Even Morrisons value eggs are free range so they don't need to be more expensive.

BishopBrennansArse · 29/05/2019 11:45

I say this as an omnivore but bacon that tastes too piggy? Wtaf? Hmm

PuppyMonkey · 29/05/2019 11:46

Clinique make up.

Netflix.Grin

ememem84 · 29/05/2019 11:47

twinnings earl grey. no other is the same.
the lovely french butter (can't remember the name of it, but the one in the gold blue and red packet)
gym membership.

Slacksandblouse · 29/05/2019 11:47

Having truly been in this position myself recently actually what I wanted and want was to feel good about myself. First things are make up. It’s so needed as we get older, and I miss a decent perfume.
Also I’d like to get my hair done (it always makes me feel better but comes last of last when you are desperate). New clothes too but not likely. So make up, perfume and getting my hair done override food wants and needs any day.

Grumblepants · 29/05/2019 11:47

Ham. I can't even contemplate the reformed cheap crap.
If I can't afford the decent cuts then I have to go without.
Pretty much everything else in life I can do on the cheap Grin

Frith2013 · 29/05/2019 11:48

I’ve got £4 to last 3 of us until next Tuesday.

LOL at these...

scarbados · 29/05/2019 11:49

Butter
Free range eggs
Yorkshire Tea

FenellaMaxwell · 29/05/2019 11:50

Coffee
Free range eggs

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 29/05/2019 11:50

Bacon - don't have it often but will only buy British, high welfare. Never touch Danish pork or bacon, or any non high welfare, non British pork. Not that we have that very often either - more and more meals are fish or veggie.

Same goes for free range eggs/chickens. But we do use just about every scrap of any chicken that comes into this house, plus carcass for stock.

TwattingDog · 29/05/2019 11:51

FR eggs
Yorkshire tea
Coca-Cola

That's about it. Everything else I would 'like' to have.
