50 gifts for DH

Planning ahead - he's 50 in November, but I want to get dh 50 gifts for turning 50. Small ones fine - not going to buy anything expensive (except one proper gift). He only has me and DCs so the only presents he has to open are from us.

So I thought I might split it into category - so ten types of food for example so I could get a nice cheese and a bottle of wine, and fancy snacks etc. Then ten types of clothes so that can include socks and a t-shirt etc.

And I will include things like a pic of the kids in a frame.

And one will be a 50 balloon.

I may buy 10 books in the charity shop - ones he would like but I have time to hunt them down.

But I am grateful for all ideas please. Great gadgets for the kitchen, tools for his bike etc.

He likes football, food, wine, books (history, politics, contemporary novels), the beach, singing....

Thank you!

I would be mortified if DH did this for me!!

I mean, wow a packed of sweets. Yes....next oh look socks! Right a book, o kaaaaaay and 9 more books.

It’s just so much STUFF and lots of it clearly “filler” even useful filler would drive me demented. I mean so not thoughtful, just pushing up the numbers!

And although it might all get used, is it really necessary? I would much much rather 1 or 2 lovely gifts, or and experience.

This kind of flagrant consumerism is so rank.

A novel from the year he was born
Same with an album
And a classic novel or album from his teens
A hip flask
Some miniatures of whisky or brandy

But I agree that 50 experiences would be even more fun.

DH once did me a valentine card of 50 promises, ranging from foot rub, breakfast in bed etc to outings and nights away. (That was before we married 25 years ago and I still haven't had them all. But appreciated the sentiment! Grin )

I'd keep it to consumable items such as food and drink and experiences, most 50 year olds don't want or need lots more stuff. Also not wrapping everything individually to save on waste there. I do wonder where it all ends though, 60 gifts for a 60th birthday, 70 for a 70th etc.
