Am taking the kids for a day in Glastonbury we will climb the tor, have a picnic, visit chalice well gardens and go and see all the lovely interesting shops... any recommendations for a coffee shop for hot chocolate and cake in the afternoon? And any other must-see things I should add to my list? Tia x

Blue note cafe on the high street

Blue note is OK.

Excalibur is family friendly (and vegan). But you will be waiting a long time for anything to make from the counter/kitchen to your table as the staff, who are admittedly very pleasant, are definitely on another spiritual plane.

Dh is from Glastonbury and likes Hundred Monkeys. He says they do a really nice coffee.
Blue note and Rainbows End at the bottom of the high street are also quite nice and very 'Glastonbury' according to him.
Not a coffee shop but I really like The George and Pilgrim. It's an incredibly old pub that serves food. Also believed to be haunted if you like that sort of thing.

It was only haunted by pissed up blokes trying random hotel room doors at night when we stayed there.

😂 thanks all - sounds like it’s exactly as I’d hoped! Thanks for the recs I will try them out x

Pie & Tart in the gauntlet, amazing pastries and cake that happens to be gluten free.

Lazy Gecko, best coffee, good food from veggie to full English.

def George and Pilgrim

Burns the bread is a good bakery (no seating though) and we always have to go, if only for the name

Oh and you could take empty bottles to the chalice wells, the water is supposed to be full of iron and good for you so we bring a few bottles home with us. They do sell bottles at a reasonable price which are a good souvenir, but you can also take your own and save money by only buying one/none

The abbey is interesting if you do a guided tour (free) with one of the people in costume, they really make it all come alive
