DS ages 8 has just come downstairs complaining about this on his feet, no itching and no smell. Could it be athletes foot?

He’s extremely annoyed as he’s only just got rid of his latest mouth ulcer. Always something with this boy! HmmSmile

Looks like dry skin to me

Oh I’ll get some e45 on it then :) thats more likely I guess with no itching etc.

I notice you say 'latest' mouth ulcer, Optimistic. Does he get them a lot? My daughter used to and we were told to find her a toothpaste that doesn't contain sodium laurel sulfate, apparently a well-known cause of ulcers. Suffice to say that she hasn't had one since. Just thought I'd mention it, just in case .... Wink

Never heard of that with the toothapaste, yes he gets them regularly! I’ll look for some toothpaste that doesn’t contain that! Thankyou :)

I recently went to a podiatrist who lathered my feet in vicks vapour rub, he says it’s excellent for the feet for its anti fungal and moisturise benefits.

My ds had something just like this and the gp told me it was juvenile plantar dermatitis. Common in kids until about the age of 14 and most prevalent age 8, which is when my ds started with it. Age 10, he's nearly outgrown it. We treat it with Aveeno on his feet regularly, and making sure he has breathable shoes. If he wears wellies or crocs or gets sweaty feet in other shoes, it comes right back. His main shoes are now Geox because they have a breathable sole. Barefoot at home as much as possible so it dries out.

He has been wearing orthotic insoles in his shoes for last 3 weeks because of a flat foot, wonder if that’s causing it, bet it’s kess breathable in there. Oh I’ll try some e45 and if it doesn’t go away I’m a couple of weeks I’ll take him to the GP.

Then again his insoles only cover the back part of the shoe so maybe not.

I get this from time to time, it's just known as peely feet in my house. It seems to get better by itself but best to let plenty of air at his feet as much as possible.
