Flexible ad hoc job suggestions?

We’ve started saving for a deposit. I have 2 jobs now, one full time and one 10 hours a week in the evening. Dh will be working days 3x during the week and picking kids up from school. He will schedule his 2 days off during the week and needs something to fill the school hours gap to do a job.

What kind of things could he do?
How do you find leaflet distributing jobs?

This isn't regular through the year but exam invigilating? I have to use breakfast club to get there on time but am allowed to leave in an afternoon to pick up. Exam sessions 3 times a year and pays over £10ph at my school (others locally pay less though)

Sounds like a good idea, but ideally need something throughout the year, apart from school hols. So hard to find part time jobs along side a full time. Feels like the world is against us getting on the housing ladder

I'm not sure I'd bother with leaflet distribution unless the pay has gone up a lot since the days of the free papers. It was literally a few quid a week.

Anywhere like McDonalds, Greggs, chip shops etc that needs extra lunchtime staff, plus possibly at the weekend?

Plus can he use the time to do the things suggested on Moneysavingexpert like shift round the bank accounts for the introductory bonuses - you can get £175 from HSBC for example and there's nothing to stop you chasing the other deals once you've got the cash.

People always suggest matched betting but I don't understand it myself.

Can he do cleaning or ironing ? Those things always seem to be suggested here when people are looking for extra money

Bluebluered · 29/05/2019 14:10

Yes I’ve thought about cleaning or ironing, but although he does all his own ironing, he also burns the iron and I’d be worried he’ll burn someone’s clothes. His cleaning isn’t up to my standards either (and my standards aren’t exactly high either).

Could do shifts in fast food, but would they want someone for 5 hours a day only 2 days on specific days?

Anyone I know who wants extra cash on a very flexible schedule does cleaning. He can learn to up his standards if he’s getting paid to do it.

Bluebluered · 29/05/2019 14:51

I’ll suggest it to him and see what he thinks. How much would you charge? Would £10-£12 an hour be ok?

Had an idea, he loves cooking, could he cook dishes and sell them as lunch time deals or dinners? Do you need any kind of permission to cook and sell food?
