Anything
Craft stuff but needs to be a bit different or impressive you know?

Cooking but the have made things like macaroons and eclairs and brioche and jam so I can’t think of anything a bit different

Previously done bouldering and ice skating and carting etc so was hoping for ideas for
something a bit more unusual

For one reason and another I’d really like to make this half term a good one

Thanks so much in anticipation of some
novel ideas!

Bit surprised to hear the secret life of pets 2 is good!

I did this once with similar ages ...
We went to Homebase (or B&Q or any hardware store will do) and got a piece of wood cut (about 1m x 2m). We also got wheels and strong rope and handles. Went home and built our own wheelie boards. They loved building them (needs a bit of adult supervision with the drill and putting the wheels on etc). They customised them with paint and stickers etc. They spent ages pulling each other around the garden and going down the slope at the park.
We still have one to this day that we use for moving heavy objects around the garden!

Find a car boot sale and have £5 (or whatever budget you want to set) and see who can get the most useful/unusual items for their budget. Haggling recommended!

Find a Forrest and set a treasure hunt
Join in the rock painting and finding - look for a local FB page or set one up
Collect bottle tops card paper etc and reuse to make a giant robot with paper machet
Library - check what’s on
Build a den and get popcorn

We did a boat to see seals yesterday and Wednesday hiring a sportsboat for a few hours.

Canoeing is good
Did wakeboarding once which was great fun for kids but bit beyond my skills. Grin

Fun, old fashioned day out at the seaside. Rockpooling, fish&chips, ice creams and long walk along the sand?

hopefulhalf · 28/05/2019 09:43

Mine are similar ages (12&15)
We are doing:
Cinema
Shopping trip
Crazy golf
Bowling
2 of the above with mates
Also a bit of homework/revision

Another vote for indoor skydiving, it's awesome!

Photo treasure hunt. Set them some local clues out in town but they have to take photos and group pics with the things to find (e.g. something, not a person, over 70 years old; take a photo with perspective to make something small look much bigger than it is; take a photo with as many colours in the background as you can find; photo of a detail of something everyday that makes you have to guess what it could be; take a really arty photo of something natural or a window, etc). Give thought to them doing pretty safe things though!

If you wish you can write these on little slips of paper and put them folded into a purse lucky-dip style to split them up between 'teams'.

Not a race. Prize is ice creams/hot chocolate 'out'. DD asks for this most half terms and sometimes makes a photo collage on a machine in Boots at the end (running out of ideas now though!)

We play monopoly which is fun or exploding kittens (a card game we picked up in tescos) . Not sure how many you have but prehaps they could choose a game (or a game each if your flush) from the nearest big supermarket/toy store?
