Blessing in disguise I’m guessing.

Eek. It’s bad.

My dd was explaining "the mandala effect" to me last week- I struggled to keep my face straight ...

dustarr73 · 28/05/2019 09:30

Communal garden snails

When I was at uni there was a communal garden, and a girl was like 'oh my god, I've always wondered what that meant, obviously they only live in communal gardens....' - it was like she's discovered the meaning of life.

Except it's 'common or garden' snails

I quite like " a blessing gin the skies" it sounds quite magical😂

x2boys · 28/05/2019 11:32

That would be in not gin😒

These threads tend to be discriminating against dyslexic people. I get that it’s cringe when people say things like valentimes day or comdoms etc (and funny!)
But I think there needs to be a slight awareness of the reasons behind these errors:
-dyslexia (can’t see the word in their mind’s eye)
-lack of reading
-parents who said it wrong

  • can break words down into phonetic sounds.

Anyway don’t mean to be all teacherish!
One of my friends (49) says sketti instead of spaghetti and I love her for it!

florentina1 · 28/05/2019 11:47

Not every one who mis-pronounces is dyslexic and it is hardly discriminatory to post examples. For the life of me I cannot say Fish, blood and bone. I practice it is my head. It it always comes out Fish, bud and Blone .Also I cannot use prevaricate and procrastinate correctly without checking a dictionary.

Bumbalaya · 28/05/2019 11:49

Fair enough.
But most people that do this in my life are dyslexic. My friend who always says "not of that elk". She's dyslexic.

REST BITE!!

The people I see posting about “some much needed rest bite...”

dustarr73 · 28/05/2019 11:57

Oh shoot me i forgot to write lighthearted in the thread title🙄

My DH recently asked my parents if he could borrow their lammenter to do some lamenting...

TSSDNCOP · 28/05/2019 12:22

I saw rest bite just the other day. I had a little private titter after I finally worked out what it actually was.

It’s ok, it’s not like OP is pointing and laughing at the person.

Knittedfairies · 28/05/2019 12:30

I'm not getting the 'mandala effect' - can someone enlighten me?

Justincase87 · 28/05/2019 12:34

The Mandela effect is a theory that there are multiple timelines - it's based on some people having extremely vivid memories of something happening, when it hasn't - lots of people remember Nelson Mandela dying and his funeral etc years before he actually died - it should be Mandela not Mandala Smile

Knittedfairies · 28/05/2019 17:24

Thanks!

chaosisaladder · 28/05/2019 17:27

The amount of times I’ve heard people say “pacifically” instead of “specifically” - Grin
