Hi,
Looking for some advice really, has anyone used a stacking kit for a washing machine and dryer, are they useful? Does everything stay where it should? Lastly which goes on top washer or dryer?
Thanks in advance !

We did once - dryer on top, it’s much lighter. But it was quite unstable especially when washer had an uneven load spinning.

Switched to dryer on shelf above when we bought newer ones

Although, thinking on, if you’ve got a precise space for them, between 2 units or unit & wall, it might be ok & easier than fitting a shelf. (Ours are in a former airing cupboard, with space all round)

I used a universal one in a previous house (from John Lewis) which was fine. In the current house I have the dryer standing on a shelf above the washer both within a tall cupboard.

Definitely the dryer on top - have you tried lifting a washer! Also, if the washer ever leaks it can only run onto the floor.

I have a universal one, from Espares ...it has a ratchet strap to go over the top of the upper appliance and a shelf that pulls out so you can rest your laundry basket on it!

I think it's always dryer over washer....it surely would not be safe the other way around.

I have no bother with vibrations or wobbles and have stuff stacked on top of the dryer that has NEVER fallen off (radio/pegs/fabric conditioner/general laundry malarkey)

Universal one here too - works brilliantly and has been totally secure for six years.

My dryer just sits on top of the washer. It’s never budged.

FrowningFlamingo · 27/05/2019 17:09

Yes, I think it's great! As above we the dryer on top. Important to use the straps for extra stability. I don't think I'd go back to side by side now even if I had the space.

Yes ours are stacked. We use the proper stacking kit (aeg ours) so they are securely fastened.

Thanks so much for all your posts, I hadn't considered a shelf, that actually sounds like a much better idea.
Cheers!

Obviously dryer on top! 😂 have you ever used or moved a WM?!

I have a stacking kit. And also the WM is on top of a anti vibrate rubber mat thing. No movement at all. It’s fab.

BlueSkiesLies · 27/05/2019 18:33

I have a universal one. Wipro or something.

I have Bosch classix washer and dryer stacked with a Bosch kit. Works really well.

mbosnz · 27/05/2019 19:20

I had the Bosch one, in NZ, and in Christchurch (otherwise known as Earthquake City). Worked very well - through 15,000 aftershocks and counting, lol. We had the dryer on the top, also.

I had my dryer stacked directly on top of my washer for years in my old house; it was always fine. It was a solid floor though, which may have made a difference.

We built a floor to ceiling 'laundry cupboard' in our last house. Basically washing machine, then shelf a couple of cm above then a shelf for the tumble dryer about 30cm above that. The shelf space in between was great for keeping all the washing power and pegs etc and in fact there was enough space on top of the dryer for the washing basket.
We used MDF for the sides of the cupboard (paint matched to the cabinets) and two kitchen cupboard doors, I think intended for a larder.
It was really good to keep it all neat and tidy out of site, and surprisingly reduced the sound of the machines more than you'd think.

I have dryer in shelf above washer. Apart from the weight the water for the washer would need to be accessed from a very high point and obviously need a high outlet!
