And has gone to the pharmacy as he's been stung and reacted quite badly. My question is...do we need to do anything about the bees angrily buzzing around? Notify neighbours? Contact anyone? Not sure what to do.

I would tell your neighbours to keep out the gardens for a bit. They will either resettle or swarm off I guess?

Thanks for replying. I have googled a local beekeeping society and found that they will only come and collect honey bees. These are definitely bumble bees from the pics I've seen. No one's in their gardens at the mo as it's cold and windy here. We will just leave the bees in peace I think, am trying to keep our curious cat away!

Oh no, your poor gardener. I hope he's ok.

I'd probably just shut your windows and let your neighbours know too. I'd assume they'll settle down after a while

Gardener is ok, said he had disturbed a nest before but hadn't reacted to stings. He was stung today near his eyebrow and his eyelid swelled up and was closed. Took antihistamines and is much better now. Bees are not around now so must've settled again. He has marked the spot in the undergrowth so it doesn't happen again.

Even the stupidest DTwatCat learned eventually that pestering the fuzzy, buzzy pingpong things wasn't the greatest of ideas after we had a couple of years being entertained by his Mick Jagger face each Spring

He now follows any overnight visitors around from a safe distance and lets me know there is another one to give sugar water, allow to warm up and release.

Nobody needs to know about it. They're just Bumbles.
