Rome Colosseum Tours recommendations

Hi, hoping someone can help offer advice. I've posted in Travel as well, but posting here for more traffic.
I'm going to Rome at the end of September and plan on pre booking a tour of the Colosseum. Another post on here recommended looking at the trip advisor forum for advise on the Colosseum website and how to book as its quite a complicated website (www.coopculture.it). This site releases its tickets on a monthly basis, so id have to wait until September. Ive no idea how quickly they sell, so I am concerned i might miss out.
Has anyone used or can recommend any other company/website to book tickets through? I would like to have a tour and ideally access to the upper and lower parts.
Many thanks in advance

Don't know about tours but it was obvious to us on going that the Colosseum is actually really dull without one.

Go in, walk round in a circle, you are done.

The Forum is amazing though for a self-guided go with a guide book - we were there for hours (thanks recommendations of other Mumsnetters)

I'd suggest prebooking everything you want to see in Rome. The coopculture site is OK when you get the hang of it.

We used dark Rome tours, it was worth paying for as we got to see areas the general admission didn’t cover.

We didn't book in advance, there are loads of touts all around selling tours. We got a tour of the Colosseum (skipped the queue, got to to in through the gladiators entrance) plus the Palatine hill area, bought tickets on the street and got in straight away. Can't remember the name of the company unfortunately but was well worth it.

I've found it, we went with Italy With Us tours.

We went 7 years ago with a company called Maximus Tours for both Colosseum/Forum and Vatican museums/St Peters tours and the guides were incredible, really enthusiastic, entertaining and obviously passionate about their city.

We have just come back from Rome.

There are loads of “skip the line” ticket touts there. We used one of these. The two guides we had - one for the Colosseum and the other for Palentine Hill were fantastic. It was €60 for the both of us. Well worth it.

I can't remember the company (possibly dark rome) but I would highly recommend an evening tour. It was not very crowded at all as it was shut to all except tour groups. It also had a walking tour around part of Rome. It was a good way to see some of the unshaded parts of Rome without it being really hot.

I'm sure they release tickets in advance. I booked mine in February for my upcoming trip at the end of this month. I'd recommend looking on the Rome forum on tripadvisor they have a lot of info about it

We did everything in Rome through one of the hop on/hop off red bus companies. You’ll see lots of their offices and bus stops dotted around.

We didn’t pre book anything before we went and just decided on the day what we fancied doing.

We paid to skip the queue for everything, and tickets and tours through the bus company were only a couple of Euro dearer than if we’d pre-booked. It was worth it for the flexibility to see what we fancied doing on the day depending on the weather, how tired we were, etc.
