I've had less than dh but I'm noticeably drunk and he's not . I've had two glasses of 🍷 and he's had same plus a 🍺

For me yes. Drinking a small amount can make me feel aggressive if my mood is poor.i had 4 drinks over 5 hours yesterday and stopped by 7 and I had worse hot flushes and suffered mild panic attacks into the night. For me it’s just not worth it

PlatypusPie · 26/05/2019 22:49

My tolerance definitely took a big downward dip and I can feel ropey, if not exactly hungover, the next day after two small glasses of wine if I haven’t had a proper meal with them.

justasking111 · 26/05/2019 22:49

Yes sorry tolerance falls

During my last hurrah before I quit drinking I ended up feeling hammered on less drink than usual. I figured it was either my age or my liver wasn't functioning as it should. Whatever it was I decided that my old friends Mr Jack Daniels and Jacob of the creek had to part.

Jaguarana · 26/05/2019 22:53

I haven't noticed this myself but several of my friends have said their tolerance is lower.

SunshineCake · 27/05/2019 07:17

I've always been a lightweight and don't drink often at all. A few nights ago I had one glass of Lambrusco and was fine but woke up with a cotton wool head. Last night I had two glasses of Chardonnay and have now woke up fine. I rarely drink two glasses of anything. I wasn't argumentative. I never am a bad drunk. I get silly and giggly when tipsy. I probably won't drink for over a month now. Not that fussed. Would rather have cheese.

This is so interesting- i can literally feel it after a few sips these days. I couldn't work out why things had changed.

megletthesecond · 27/05/2019 08:08

Yes. I went from light drinker to not being able to touch a drop even with a meal.
Lucky I don't have a social life really Hmm.

TowerRingInferno · 27/05/2019 08:10

My tolerance has plummeted.
2 glasses max
Can no longer drink champagne, Prosecco or anything fizzy or cheap white wine.

Flowersmakemyday · 27/05/2019 21:59

Struggle with wine, Prosecco, but can manage gin Grin

justasking111 · 27/05/2019 22:28

ah fizz, that cripples me, stomach and head. White wine a little, red wine a no no. Gin can have a bit of that still.

SunshineCake · 28/06/2019 14:12

How's everyone doing?

I'm currently over a week late and have felt tearful for a couple of days and very tired. I feel like some of it is because of the therapy I'm having but I'm also feeling very low.

I think I might have an hour sitting with the dog as she's the best.

Hope everyone else is okay.

I have hear about this with the wine and noticed it myself I wonder what causes it? Our bodies are interesting. I am limiting myself to a small glass of red with a meal, sometimes at weekends and even that can make me feel a bit drunk...Oh no just realised older ladies in the family often do this thing of taking few sips of wine at a family occasion and saying "I'm so tipsy now" - now I understand!

EatingBreadAndHoney · 28/06/2019 16:00

Yep I certainly can't drink the way I used to, have even recorked the bottle sometimes.

A g&t now floors me, a pint of bitter lasts me ages and I suffer for 2 days afterwards. Pass the diet coke! 😩

Zaphodsotherhead · 28/06/2019 16:02

It may be due to additives.

I can drink a couple of glasses of some wines and be fine next day, but there are some (usually cheap, Echo Falls is a particularly nasty one) that have me retching all night, head down the loo, unable to function for half the next day on one small glass.

I think I've just got more sensitive to additives. Or cheap wine!

ChopinIn10Minuets · 28/06/2019 16:42

That's a point Zaphod (no more Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters for you then I take it? SadWink). My 81-year-old DM says life is too short for cheap wine (especially Echo Falls, yuk) and as I get older I see her point!

SunshineCake · 28/06/2019 19:08

I didn't expect this thread to become more about alcohol!

Oh flipping heck. I've just seen my title and OP Blush. I'm blaming the menopause. I thought I'd started a thread about emotional and physical symptoms of the menopause .
