Do you find Bank Holidays really boring?

I do. No money to do much. No petrol.

No. DS and dgc are here. Marble mountain, Lego, Moana, BBQ, paddling pool, and Harry Potter on now. I had wanted to go and watch the jousting at the local castle but they're all too busy. Me too busy clearing up!!!

ScreamingValenta · 26/05/2019 19:13

No. I relish any extra day off work.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 26/05/2019 19:14

Movies on TV? Gardening if you have one? How old are your kids if you have them - paddling pool age?

LynetteScavo · 26/05/2019 19:16

No! So many free things to do...mostly tidying up/sorting out cupboards here Grin but I've never been board at home.

If my house was immaculately tidy, and I wanted to go out, at least the weather is ok for a walk.

DialANumber · 26/05/2019 19:16

Pack up a picnic and head out. Walk if you need to. Go somewhere you've never been before - local park, river, green space, farm.

If you have to stay home bake, cook, jigsaws, read, clear out the loft, wash all your bedding, sort your photos.

Don't ever be bored.

alltoomuchrightnow · 26/05/2019 19:32

Always worked them so no time to be bored.
But...off for this one.. DP away.. today bored shitless as can't be motivated to do any housework (PMS raging though)
Yesterday went out for day with friend but lots of driving

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/05/2019 19:33

No, love them. Don’t mind if we spend them out and about. Don’t mind whether we’re must at home.

grumpycatgrumpycat · 26/05/2019 19:35

Baby is going through a horrific phase of screaming when people look at/talk to her, yet just constantly whines in boredom at ‘playing’ (she’s only 6mo) at home or I’m the garden. BH weekend is TORTURE.

wanderings · 26/05/2019 19:38

I try to make the most of them, but I'm not fond of them; I am self-employed so I don't get the benefit of them. I tend to notice the downsides: places are more crowded, roads are busier, and drivers are extra slow, or drunk extra reckless.

I also remember loathing the late May bank holiday as a teenager because it was usually in half term, and I'd be having to revise instead of enjoying being outside.

freshstartnewme · 26/05/2019 19:41

No I love that I can get up and relax. I hate the rest of the mornings because we are always up for school or work but bank holiday Mondays are my absolute most cherished days.

SoleBizzz · 26/05/2019 21:03

My disabled DS went to bed at 6pm. He is fast asleep. We are going out for a daytrip on Wednesday. I bet the place we are going is heaving with children.

Today has dragged and tomorrow will do too.

Yes. But only because I don't work Mondays and can't get anything done when the kids are off. I can't go to the gym either. No point in going out anywhere because DD won't like anywhere busy.

bourbonbiccy · 26/05/2019 21:24

Absolutely not boring at all. Although it doesn't really make that much difference to me as I am a SAHP to my DS, but it does however mean that we get a family meet up and a lovely meal tomorrow as everyone else is off.

Could you get a picnic together and head out for a walk somewhere to a park. Turn it into an adventure and go squirrel spotting or whatever your DS is into and you have locally.

How old is your DS ?

babysharkah · 26/05/2019 21:26

No. We were busy yesterday and are are tomorrow but have done nothing today and it's been lovely.

SoleBizzz · 26/05/2019 21:28

bourbonbiccy almost 21 and visually impaired. We don't have any family just each other. We are going on a picnic in June though x

Sometimes. I've been quite busy recently with work so this is the first bank holiday I've had so far to relax but I've found it quite dull and I'm lacking motivation to do fun things like read, Netflix, Hama beads, walking.

Pipandmum · 26/05/2019 21:31

Love them! No getting up early, no rushing about! Can get up late, do something with the kids, catch up on reading and lazy stuff like actually finishing the Sunday papers. It’s a guilt free day.

Geraniumpink · 26/05/2019 21:37

I don’t get bored, but it takes a while for me to slow down and realise I have plenty of time. I like to stay near home as the roads get very crowded near us. Baking, gardening, reading film watching all good. Dd has just got very keen on houseplants for some reason, so we may go to a garden centre tomorrow.

bourbonbiccy · 26/05/2019 22:13

@SoleBizzz Does he enjoy baking, art and craft and music.

You could have a party day, help bake a cake, make some decoration and crank the music up or that might not be his thing 😳😳😳
