Can you buy your midwife a thank you present?

Where I live, you pretty much see the same midwife for every app unless it's an emergency one. My midwife has been fantastic throughout the whole pregnancy and now after, she's been an angel. I get discharged next week and have bought hotel chocolat chocolates (small box) and some of their hot chocolate, as I figured if she doesn't like chocolate then it's the thought that counts and she can regift them. I'm now worried she'll take it as unprofessional and won't accept the gift. Is it inappropriate? It was just to say thank you for all the support she's been but I don't want to make it awkward?

I gave my midwife some chocolates. We left them with the GP reception to pass on. I work in the NHS and small gifts like you described are fine and much appreciated! (Large gifts have to be declared as could be trying to coerce you etc).

Midwives love little marks of appreciation! It's fine for us to accept chocolates or similar. Do write a card or note to go with it as we can use those as evidence when we revalidate or have reviews with our line managers.

I'm sure she'll love it!

I gave my midwife a box of chocolates and dropped off a tub to the maternity unit when we left.

Little thank you tokens are fine, just nothing expensive as you have to declare it. Same as teacher gifts at the end of the year.

I discovered this week that moonpig have thank you cards specifically for midwives! You can put your own photo on too I think.

We gave the midwife team some chocolates. They were able to accept.

My mum bought 6 chocolate boxes and gave to all the nurses who looked after my sister when she was born and left the NICU.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

I gave mine a bottle of Tequila Grin

(As we like margaritas)

Chocolate/biscuits is always the best present for health care staff. Even if they don't like them they will enjoy sharing them in the tea room with the rest of the staff.

A token gift is absolutely fine, but a handwritten card or letter is wonderful. I've kept all the ones that I have been given as a nurse and I've used them for my revalidation portfolio.

You can and we did it for our midwife team and the staff at the NICU.

We didn't do chocolates as I was in charge of present shopping and went left field. Hand creams, different herbal teas, naked bars and a big bag of pens as they never had enough.

The NICU team got a giant pack of new cutlery as their kitchen had a fork and a spoon, biscuits and some nice cordials
