Do I want to pay a snagging company for new build?

Buying a new build, moving in soon and know there will be issues. As this is a rather expensive purchase I’m thinking about a company. Bought a new build flat before and that was stressful enough trying to do the snagging list. This time it’s a big house.

Any recommendations for snagging companies that you’ve used?

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a snagging company. They will only be able to identify the visible ones (as will you), and the other snags will become apparent as you settle in and use things. Any reputable house builder will deal with snags straightaway. What did you find stressful about it last time?

I would recommend that you get a reputable local surveyor to do the snagging for you. I think a fresh set of professional eyes checking over your new build property before you accept it would be very helpful for you. However, will the house builder accept your snag list? It might be worth reading the small print in your purchase agreement....

Do it. A friend of a friend had someone do it and found 145 small issues many things an average person wouldn't think of looking for.

We just created snag lists for the builder to sort out once we'd already moved in. Most issues you only notice as you're living in the house and using stuff anyway. We did one list at the beginning, another after 6 months, will probably have another ready after a year has passed. Don't see the need for a snagging company as you'll find things yourself (if you haven't noticed something after 2 years then does it really matter?)

@thethoughtfox that’s it, it’s the things we’ll miss.

We had issues that came to light over the course of time and we expect that. It’s just with a more expensive house we thought we’d get it right this time as we had water damage from something we only became aware of when it showed over time.
