How the bloody hell do you deal with it. Cope with it? Not shriek "because I said so!!!!!!"

Dc1 is 4 in a couple of months. What day is it today? Sunday. Why? Because it was saturday yesterday. Why?

Please stop slamming the door. Why? Because it's too noisy and I don't want the door to break. Why? Because then the door wouldn't close properly. Why? Because it would be broken. Why? Argh.

Dc2 is 2 and is quickly picking it up too.

Dc1 is VERY annoying inquisitive and learns things very easily, but Jesus these questions are driving me up the wall!!

"I've already answered that darling, think of a new question please"

Ask a question back. Would you like it if I broke one of your toys? Would you like it if someone was shouting so you couldn’t hear what you wanted to listen to?

This is my 4 year old DD right now.
I just usually say 'because I said so' to most 'why's'...... whilst muttering 'for fucks sake' under my breath 😂😂😂😂

A piece of advice I got given was to think of the 'why' questions as your child trying to have a conversation with you when they don't have the skills to do so and then answering accordingly.

Sometimes it helps makes the questions less annoying....

By DC4 I was very much like a judge on a US crime series "asked and answered, move on now"

Why do you think so? always gets some interesting answers - a lot of the time I'm not sure they are looking for a real answer, just that you, the grown up, has an answer,so you can always make something up Grin

Sparrowlegs248 · 26/05/2019 13:35

I wouldn't mind so much if they were genuine questions, but sone of them are just ridiculous, and the why to every answer I give. I'm going to try "ask another question." I wonder what the response will be?
