Mayernity exemptment

Hello all.

I had my baby 4 weeks ago and i never got my maternity exemptment cert in the post after filling in the form. I have been to the dentist and need to have a few fillings and a tooth extraction. I am beyind devastated as ive never needed treatement before apart from braces.

Anyway if i call my gp can i get a new form? And would the certificate cover the cost of fillings and an extraction?
Also would it cover the cost of a bridge as i dont want my alignment to change as i had 10 plus years if braces and that would be wasted if my teeth move.

Thanks all

It only covers routine dentist stuff. So my dentist appts are coveted but not the hygienist (seen as "cosmetic"). So your bridge won't be covered and I highly doubt it'll cover fillings and extractions too (although happy to be corrected).

Yes i'm sure it will cover extractions and fillings as those are the dental.problems which if left untreated could cause major problems to your health. I dont think a bridge would be covered. People ofyen have problems after pregnancy. Babies take the calcium from your body I believe.

It will cover all nhs treatment only. Hygienist and bridge unlikely on nhs.

Not sure if you can get a card, but we are not allowed to demand proof of exemption. So claim as exempt. But you might need to prove it later as the NHS does check sometimes.

Thanks all. I could pay fornthe bridge on my credit card so all not lost i have it for emergencies. But if i can get the filling and extraction done i would be very happy and greatful. Thanks all.

It will cover all NHS treatment, so it might cover a bridge. If the dentist will do it on the NHS it will cover it, it will definitely cover the fillings and extractions.

I do bridges on the NHS sometimes, it depends which tooth though, your bite things like that.

You don't need proof for an exemption, but if you don't have any proof for the dentist, we will claim it as "exempt proof not seen" then the NHS can sometimes follow up, and if asked for it and you don't have it you can be fined + cost of treatment.

Sorry to bring this up again. The tooth in question didnt hurt before the dentist had a look and a ckeannin my mouth. It now has started hurting. Ibuprofen helps. But i have an appointment next month for another gum cleanjng and to talk about the tooth. Do i try and get another appointment or just sick it up until then? Also how long would it take to pull the tooth? Its a second to last molar.

I have never had a filling before. Does that hurt as i need one of those too sorry im getting quite nervous about it as i still have bad dreams from having braces.

Also she said my alignment could move from the tooth loss. Does that mean all of my teeth or just the ones next to the gap?

Thanks. So upset sorry
