Chicken pox exposure and we're going away - should we vaccinate quickly?

14 month old exposed to chicken pox at a playgroup, although it might be that the child was past contagious period (I think the spots were scabbed over but not certain and they were in direct contact) I don't like to ask the mum as I'm sure it was past contagious period if she brought him, I'm just worrying

We're going away in three weeks and I know the incubation period is 10-21 days, it would be a nightmare for everyone if he came out with it there and we had to stay in the room the whole time

Is it worth quickly vaccinating? I'd read that if it's done within five days it is effective

If you can, yes. I really wish I had vaccinated my DS just to avoid all the discomfort, not to mention inconvenience of having to take a couple of weeks off work and the worry before every holiday that he might catch it. Plus of course the risk that they can develop serious complications if/when they do catch it.

It might not be possible as says needs to be four weeks since MMR and it's only been three, also not sure where we can go at weekend and it's a bank holiday

Hmm

My eldest daughter got it 16 days before we went on holiday. I vaccinated my three younger children and it worked, it can stop them getting it if they've already been exposed which obviously they had.
If you were thinking about vaccinating anyway I would probably get it done.
