Can nurses accept flowers?

I'd like to send a thank you to a team of nurses, but I'm not sure what to send. I'll send a card too.

Can nurses accept them or are they not allowed for hygiene reasons? Would they prefer chocolates so they can be shared among team?

It's an outpatient service team at a children's hospital

If it's the same as midwives then token gifts can be accepted, such as flowers or chocolates. Chocolates for the team are a nice idea as they can be shared. If the flowers are for one individual staff member then they can be kept in water somewhere hidden until the end of the shift, but there would be nowhere to display them if for the whole team. Flowers also run the risk of the person missing them if shifts mean they're not back for a while. I had that myself sadly, given a gorgeous bunch of flowers by a couple but I was on annual leave so they wilted before my return!

I sent a fruit hamper after I came out of hospital.

Yes, but decent tea, coffee, biscuits, cereal bars etc always go down well.

Don't send flowers. Try chocs, biscuits, sweets or anything that can be shared. I was in hospital for 4 months recently and put together a huge hamper of goodies for both the wards who look after me (critical care and a rehab ward). They said the hampers lasted two days due to the amount of munchie-raiding that went on but were appreciated!

A big tin of biscuits always goes down well with us.
In fact a box of biscuits may be the only thing we can grab and go and actually eat throughout the entire shift sometimes.

Life savers are biscuits!

We recently had a group of police personnel on the ward (with a victim of a crime) and a box of biscuits kept them and us going on that night shift plus the poor family of the patient with cups of tea (of course)

Biscuits please 😃

My mum was a nurse and snacks/biscuits etc were always welcome because managers lock the biscuit cupboards! Lots of wards don't allow flowers.

If you send flowers to a team who takes them home? Where do they go?

I don’t mean to sound ungrateful - but yes, as PP’s have said food gifts such as chocolates or biscuits would be better because they are so much easier to share.

From a nurse who doesn’t eat chocolate or biscuits personally Grin.

I was told that they loved good quality hand cream as the alcohol rub dries them so I got a little hamper with treats including hand cream and biscuits etc
