School bottle tombola

DC’s school are having a non-uniform day tomorrow, participating kids need to bring a bottle in for a future bottle tombola.

Except I forgot all about it being tomorrow until just now.

The only unopened bottles in the house are:

Bubble bath
Pepsi
Olive oil
A couple of fruit shoots
Single malt whisky (and I’m not donating a £40 bottle of whisky!)

Is it acceptable to give the school bubble bath and Pepsi? I’m not sure what’s expected with bottle tombolas.

They’ll be fine. Though i’d rather win the Olive oil than either of them tbh.

We always had random bottles of non alcoholic stuff at our bottle tombola, Just send what you’ve got, it’ll be fine.

I used to organise this and all that you have listed is fine. One year we had .... A bottle of dog flee shampoo

Fruit shoots would be appreciated, DS loves a tombola so it's good to have stuff suitable for kids as well. He'd be delighted with a fruit shoot (and even more with pespi!)

I once sent in bottle of Sarson’s Vinegar, nowt else spare I wanted to give

Pascha · 22/05/2019 22:51

I came home with a bottle of whisky from the summer fete bottle tombola last year Smile. I've also had orange squash and a bottle of Newcastle Brown ale from the scouts advent fair (not together).

NewSchoolNewName · 22/05/2019 23:13

Great stuff, I’ll send in the fruit shoots and Pepsi.

My son's school do this twice a year, they get quite a lot of non alcoholic drink.

TeenTimesTwo · 23/05/2019 09:56

When I was on the PTA at primary we always made it clear that soft drink & bubble baths etc were fine. Not everyone can afford to give wine, and some religions would bar it anyway. Not everyone wants to win alcohol either.

Just check it is in date!

I always give bubblebath. I love bubblebath and most children love bubblebath!

Pigpogtastic · 23/05/2019 10:05

I won a bottle of HP sauce at our last fair!

Titsywoo · 23/05/2019 10:06

At my kids primary school they only wanted alcohol but they stated this (and begged for more each year as it's the most popular stall - bunch of winos apparently Grin) so if they don't specify I'd take whatever you have.

Sounds like our school. It’s always the stall with the biggest queues.

BlueMerchant · 23/05/2019 10:09

I personally don't like to see the bottle tombola in schools. I just somehow don't think it's right trying to win bottles of alcohol in school ( ex- drinker so maybe it's my own issue). If I felt I had to send something it'd be Pepsi.

NewSchoolNewName · 23/05/2019 11:39

The note about the non uniform day specifically said to send kids in with a bottle if they were participating, so I did feel that I had to send something in.

Judging by the collection boxes by the classroom doors though, the school’s not bothered about them being alcoholic. There were more non-alcoholic drinks than bottles of booze, at least for my DC’s classes. Plus a few toiletries like bubble bath and sun cream.
