Copper coil or pill?

I've come out of a LTR and let's just say I don't want to be on my own forever lol. I was on the pill for 11 years but think it messed my system up! I was thinking of a copper coil as it's not hormonal but the idea of a coil is a bit Confused because I've been on the pill forever. What would you choose?

Coil. Once it’s in you don’t have to think about it for years and there’s no hormones involved so perfect really.

Apart from when having children I have been on the pill for the last 23 years. Over time it messed with my hormones more and more until I came to the conclusion I have to come off it, my doctor agreed when I talked it over with her.

I have had what feels likes a very long four week wait for a first appointment at the GUM clinic to see about getting a copper coil, I am finally there tomorrow morning! I am looking forward to being able to get rid of the hormones very soon as am a completely different person when not on the tablets, I just hope I don't have any problems with the coil.

I got a copper coil a few months ago as I didn't want to be on hormones anymore.

Generally pleased with it, the first period was just insanely heavy but the second wasn't too bad at all. I recommend

I’ve had both in the past with no problems, but I’d go for the coil as you don’t have to remember to take the pill every night.

Coil

You can literally just forget about it and no synthetic hormones fucking up your libido system

CallyMollyMindy · 22/05/2019 21:01

is the coil painful to be put in?

Not painful, just uncomfortable and not much worse than having a smear. It takes slightly longer and you may need to lie down for 10mins afterwards. Also the copper coil may make your periods slightly heavier... still definitely easier than the pill.

I have a coil. Uncomfortable but not painful to put in (but experiences differ!). I’d never take hormonal contraceptives but the coil suits me just fine.

Have used pill and copper coil. Pill didn't suit me at all, had horrendous nausea, breakthrough bleeding and weight gain. Copper coil was fine and gave me no problems for two separate five year stretches. Loved the no hormones aspect and suited me far better than the mirena subsequently did.
