I'd cook the pear.

Mississippilessly · 22/05/2019 19:08

I would cool the pear, tey the others raw first - how old is your LO? Mine is 8 months now and can deal with quite chunky fruit. So i dont completely blitz it.

Blush 15 months Blush he eats chunks fine, just won't eat fruit Blush so planning on purreeing then freezing so I can add it to his porridge

Good call! We bake apples with rice pudding- worth a go?

Zillaindie · 22/05/2019 19:41

Try frozen fruits and mash them down when defrosted.

Works out better as you can pick out portion size.

I use a berry mix, defrost and mash into yoghurts.

Just don't do what I did and give them melon. No one told me it would strip the skin right off the bottom....even a lovely ripe melon!!

Mississippilessly · 22/05/2019 20:29

What? I dont understand - I gave DS melon today?! What's going to happen?!?!

Thistles24 · 22/05/2019 20:44

Mine have all had melon from 6 months with no problem! I used tinned fruit quite a bit, can blend it straight out of the tin.

YouWhoNeverArrived · 22/05/2019 21:07

I did a pear puree for my 5-month-old yesterday and I didn't cook the pear first. I just blitzed it very finely. Would cooking make the texture more baby-friendly?

Mississippilessly · 22/05/2019 21:14

Tinned fruit.

Why have I never thought of that?!?!

CoraPirbright · 22/05/2019 21:22

Oh maybe it was just me then Blush. Dd had a blended lovely ripe melon when she was about 9 months old and it stripped the skin off her bottom when it came out of the other end! I am thinking it was quite alkaline? I mentioned it to a friend and she made a Hmm face and said she had always known it wasn’t a good idea!!

Mississippilessly · 22/05/2019 21:30

DS has had horrendous nappy rash for the past 2 days.
Maybe this is why!!

APurpleSquirrel · 22/05/2019 21:37

Peach & apricot I'd do raw; pear & plum is cook.
Often do plum with cinnamon or almond essence to vary it.
I then put it in ice cube trays, once frozen put in ziplock freezer bags & use a couple with DS porridge.
He's currently having blueberry or gooseberry & Japanese Wineberry (similar to raspberry, which we grow ourselves).
