Anyone get bruises they can’t remember getting?

I always have bruises on my legs with no memory of, but then I’m constantly running around after two toddlers so I figured I’m just banging into things and not remembering it. I have chronic fatigue and have chronic pain too, so maybe I’m just not very with it sometimes?

On Monday I noticed a bruise on my arm which was quite painful - it’s now obviously faded but it’s massive! I have no memory at all of doing anything to it.

Had blood tests very recently including full blood count and no issues there - so is it my memory that’s screwed up?! Does this happen to anyone else?

(Excuse my worktop which desperately needs sanding and oiling Blush)

Anyone get bruises they can’t remember getting?

‘OP bruising very easily is a sign of some sort of deficiency’

It’s a major symptom of leukaemia. It says in OP that she’s had blood tests (including a full blood count, which is the important one for indicating blood cancer), so she has nothing to worry about on that score.

But for anyone else on the thread who bruises easily (especially if it’s a new thing and/or if it’s accompanied by fatigue, bone/joint pain, breathlessness, night sweats, unexplained weight loss, infections slow to clear if other unusual bleeding eg gums) should go to their GP and get the test done, many blood cancers are very treatable, and if caught early can have a good prognosis

Yes, given the size of the bruise (hard to capture but it goes across most of the top of my arm, down the side and a bit round the back) if I hadn’t had very recent blood tests including an FBC I’d have definitely seen a doctor about it, and would definitely suggest others get checked out just in case

(A friend of mine’s DH contracted a very rare form of blood cancer in their 30s so it’s something that sticks out to me!)

What’s weird is that I don’t think I do bruise that easily. Recently one of my twins was bouncing on the sofa, tripped and flew headfirst into the bridge of my nose full force - it felt like it was going to erupt with bleeding but it never came, and there was very minimal bruising. So it just seems so weird that my arm has a bruise like this when I don’t remember anything. Must just be so focussed on fire fighting the twins I didn’t notice whatever I did!

I have not read through the full thread but my sister started noticing this a long time ago. Very large painful bruises that she had no memory of.

I’m not sure what sort of tests she had to diagnose it but it turns out that she has a blood disorder. I’m fuzzy on the details, I think it may have been caused by a virus? She basically has a low platelet count.

Just had a quick google and I think it’s called “thrombocytopenia”.

I often have small bruises that I don't remember the cause.
Annoyingly, I can remember a number of occasions where I've bashed myself on something very hard and it's been very painful - and I haven't bruised!
The weirdest one I had was a massive bruise on my foot that had spread across the toe joints, the whole width of my foot. I can remember the thinking my toes were a bit sore but I thought it was a new fibromyalgia symptom as I was also getting shooters up my leg.
No, massive bruise and I have no idea what caused it.

All the time. I’m quite fair which I think makes them more obvious.

Yes,quite frequently. Usually on my forearms (which I suspect may be from carrying a bag of shopping hooked over my arm) or on the front of my thighs. I'm prone to anaemia and have been told that this makes you more likely to bruise.
