just as it says really....

planning a day at Legoland in the summer with DH and DD who is 8

we're planning on going at some point in the w/c July 15, which is maybe before English schools break up (we are in Scotland)

how busy will it, any must dos, and any way of getting a good deal on tickets?

all advice appreciated, thanks

You have to pay to park

MyDcAreMarvel · 21/05/2019 20:48

Kellogg’s often have two for one on cereal packs or happy meal boxes.

skippetyskoo · 21/05/2019 20:50

Do you have Tescos vouchers? You can get three times worth through clubcard boost.

Failing that, there are lots of 2 for 1 entries on packets/cereals etc.

There are always lots of wasps and it will still be busy because some private schools and academies will already have broken up, plus school trips so just be aware.

There are always 2 for 1 tickets available on things like cereal boxes or via eBay and cashback websites.

Study the map carefully before you go and prioritise your rides. Be there as long before opening as you can manage and dash to your main ones first. Don't tour he park in a circular way following the crowds.

  1. Never pay full price for tickets - see above tips.
  2. Bring your own food - eating sandwiches in a big queue saves loads of time (and is nicer than most of what you can buy there).
  3. Bring your own pound-shop ponchos for the water rides.
LoafEater · 21/05/2019 20:55

Start at the bottom of the hill and work your way back up. Don’t pay full price, it’s barely worth the discounted prices.

DameXanaduBramble · 21/05/2019 20:55

Watch out for the wasps!

123rd · 21/05/2019 20:58

Argh I was going to say wasps!!
And yes to eating in the queues.

Also don't be surprised if the water park isn't open -esp if it's boiling hot !!Hmm

There is a spring sale for the next three hours for £29 if you buy your ticket on line for all dates up till November. This is good if you have an odd number of people in your party that is left short changed by the Kellogg's offer.

Doyoumind · 21/05/2019 21:03

You will have to queue. Plan your day so you go on the most popular rides early.

The train up the hill often doesn't work.

flingingmelon · 21/05/2019 21:05

Don't go. It's a rip off.

If it's a done deal then accept it's going to be a rip off and practice some breathing exercises to help make peace with it.

And bring snacks for the endless queues...maybe a pack of cards too.

Swishswish26 · 21/05/2019 21:06

Try to take all your own food and drinks as the food is diabolical- mainly hotdogs and burgers and hugely overpriced.

AnneLovesGilbert · 21/05/2019 21:09

Food is very expensive, avoid buying anything at a stand. We took a picnic for the first day then had lunch at the pizza/pasta place the second day which was okay value.

The pirate show is awesome.

The rides probably won’t all be open but that’s okay, there are loads.

The Ninjago play is fun.

DC did the driving thing and thought it was awesome.

We got a great deal, through Legoland itself. One free day entry and a night in a hotel not far away (though not in the park, those are extortionate Shock) and free dinner for the DC. Thought it was great value overall - if you skip the obvious traps like having to buy too much food or get stuck in the gift shop!

BrioLover · 21/05/2019 21:17

When you get there walk straight to the back of the park and work your way through backwards.

CountingToThree · 21/05/2019 21:23

Park opens at 9.30am so you go in and look round mini land until the gates for the rides open at 10. Head for your must do then (hotel visitors will already be in so will be some queues already). Queues will be really long in the middle of the day so we do the non rides then - mini land, pirate show, cinema, playgrounds. Then go back on rides from about 4pm. You can cram a lot into the last hour as the park quietens down. Take lots of food & drinks. Change of clothes/towels if doing raft riders/log flume etc
