Things to do ??

I'm on maternity leave and I'm so bored only two days in! I've got seven and a half weeks until my due date!
So can anyone give me some things to do that aren't too strenuous?
I've already sorted baby's clothes and will be ironing them this week. I've also bought and organised everything else for baby.
Planning on deep cleaning bathroom tomorrow as health visitor is coming Thursday. But I don't know what else to do!
Help??

Batch cook some meals for the freezer so that you won't need to cook too much in the early days.

Make sure you know how all the gadgets you've got work - including how to et the car seat in and out of hte car, how to collapse the buggy one handed etc. So much easier to get the hang of it now than when you've got a screaming newborn.

Get you hair cut into a practical style that won't need to have anything done other than brushing (that's on a good day!)

Go to any exhibitions etc that you really want to see - you won't get the chance for a while.

Definitely batch cook and try out some quick and easy recipes
Go to the cinema
Read some books
Take it easy

If I batch cooked now is there a chance a lot of it will just get freezer burn? I was thinking of starting mid June?
Getting hair cut, a wax, eyebrows done and a lash lift in the next month or so hopefully (I'm not an attractive person so I want the baby to have the best first impression 😂)
I'm lucky to live in a place that often has free events so I'll make a diary of things that are on. I'll just struggle walking to them sometimes but if I haven't paid I won't mind that

I'd risk the freezer burn TBH. It won't actually hurt the food, and you'll have far more energy now than you will in another 4 weeks or so.

mylittlenugget · 21/05/2019 11:22

That's true thank you! I'll buy some tubs to get it all sorted! Any ideas for recipes? I'm considering lasagna, bolognese sauce, curries, and chilli con carne. Or will these be impractical because they usually require two hands/being careful with sauces?

You get very good at eating one handed! Spoons are easier to use. Your DP can cut things up for you, or you eat in shifts. You may be lucky and be able to actually put your little one down for 5 minutes while you eat....

Another thing to get is a thermos mug. Otherwise you won't have a hot drink for the next 6 months at least Grin

mylittlenugget · 21/05/2019 12:12

Just don't want to drop a bit of chicken on babies head so overthinking I guess 😂
Way too scared to have anything hot near the baby if I'm honest, I work in a nursery and a baby I looked after managed to pull a hot drink over herself (at home, obviously no hot drinks in nursery). Ever since I've freaked out about that stuff

I know dropping food on baby won't harm them by the way, just a weird thing I guess

Also make a couple of loaves worth of sandwiches and freeze them in 2-round packages. It makes lunch much easier when you're at home alone with baby and they're not for sleeping, or being put down. Grab from freezer, bung on plate, pick up plate 5 hours later.

Ooh thank you! I love wraps and sandwiches so that's a really good tip. Gonna have lots to do now thank you everyone!
