if small chains/local eateries are you thing, go for Bold St. there's an immense choice from Pieminster to Peruvian to Turkish. All fairly reasonably priced. If it needs to be really cheap, there's even a branch of Taco Bell. If tapas is your thing, try Lunya on Hanover St.

I second Bold street, lots of lovely places to eat. If it's a nice day a walk along the Albert Dock

YouWhoNeverArrived · 21/05/2019 10:26

Lunch at the Italian Club Fish!

Albert Dock is nice for a beer with a view of water and sunshine, though lots of the bars are chains.

I third Bold Street and there’s a fabulous Indian restaurant, but I can’t remember the name. Blush I’ll ask my youngest and get back to you. I absolutely love going to Liverpool. The people are so friendly and helpful. There are a lot of homeless people, but they don’t tend to aggressively beg or hassle people. Bold street has every kind of restaurant you can think off.

Sorry I can’t be much more help, I just eat and get fat when I visit my middle child. 😁

It’s Sanskruti Restaurant. Look at the size of those nan breads! They aren’t just enormous, they taste delicious. 🤤

Mowgli is good too. You could visit the two cathedrals, go to the Walker Or Tate Galleries or have a wander around the Bluecoat.

Ricekrispie22 · 21/05/2019 16:15

St Johns Beacon Viewing Gallery, also known as Radio City Tower, is an observation tower with views of Merseyside, Wirral, North Wales (including Snowdonia occasionally), and as far away as the Lake District and Blackpool Tower on clearer days. A full information booklet is including in the entrance fee, plus there is a guide on hand to answer any questions.

Both catherdrals are amazing in their own way. I love the Pen Factory - a pub next door to the Everyman theatre. i'd happily eat in there and have a drink on my own. There are dogs to look at too.

Mowgli on Bold Street is great.

We sat outside here the other weekend and had a fantastic lunch with a glass of wine. www.thequarteruk.com/

Bold stree is ok.
The Baltic triangle is the new up and coming place to visit in Liverpool for eating and drinking.
You could also visit the Albert dock.
Theres the the slavery, Tate, Liverpool museums for a bit of culture.

By Albert dock, nice views

PepsiLola · 21/05/2019 16:52

I second mowgli in bold street, absolutely lovely food there.

The areas around the cathedrals are lovely too.

Avoid any of the restaurants on L1, you can "do" them anywhere (national chains)

Funnily enough, I just came on here to start a thread about what to do, and where to eat, in Liverpool. So thank you, OP!
Any recommendations for hotels near the station? And is the station central to the city's attractions?

Toddlerteaplease · 21/05/2019 17:13

Moose coffee on Dale street or Hope street is my go to place to eat. Loads of museums/art galleries. The cathedrals are worth a visit. Especially the metropolitan cathedrals. I live Liverpool!

Toddlerteaplease · 21/05/2019 17:15

@Leeds2 Ibis styles in Dale street is near to the station and it's nice.

howwudufeel · 21/05/2019 17:18

The hotels nearest to the station are The Adelphi and The Liner. I definitely wouldn’t recommend The Adelphi and I don’t think The Liner is much good either. There is a Premier Inn which has just opened across the road from Lime Street if that’s any good? A lot of people seem to like The Titanic but it’s a little bit out of town. The Shankly is supposed to be be very good.
Liverpool is a comparatively small city. The station is handy for the World Museum and the Walker Art Gallery, as well at Hope Street. The Albert Dock is a little further away.

PepsiLola · 21/05/2019 17:52

If you like the look of skankly hotel, like their fb page - they post lots of offers on their (usually during the week rather than weekends)

PepsiLola · 21/05/2019 17:56

When my friends came to visit me, they stayed in the days inn hotel, it's right next door to name st station. It's not as fancy as shankly or anything, but it's very good location imo (very close to Albert dock, L1, Matthew st)

PepsiLola · 21/05/2019 17:56

James st station not name 🤦🏼‍♀️

CushyButtercup · 21/05/2019 18:08

If you like beer head to the Ship And Mitre on Dale st. It has a fantastic selection of beers from around the world. Or the Philharmonic pub on Mount Pleasant, particularly if you are into victorian architecture. I understand that the mens' lavatories are impressive though I can't confirm from personal experience. The area around the Philharmonic Hall to the Anglican Cathedral is worth a bit of an explore to see the remains of Georgian Liverpool. There are a few good places to eat around there, I like 60 Hope st. (downstairs for casual dining) and The Quarter.

Kez200 · 21/05/2019 18:42

On Bold Street the Greek is great with a good value deal available at the right times. They have a website.

Also I LOVE Mowgli Street Food which is a restaurant also on Bold Street.

We also had a burger at Byrons in the city centre which was better than I expected.

Kez200 · 21/05/2019 18:44

For accommodation you could try ringing Host So Simple who have air b and bs in the city. They have Instagram feed too if you want to look at what they've got on offer.

Leeds2 · 21/05/2019 19:27

Thanks for all the hotel recommendations. Off to google .......

RunningLondon · 21/05/2019 19:31

The Adelphi is probably closest hotel but it’s a dive. AVOID! shankly is lovely. As is the nadler. Bold st for food, mowgli, Leaf are 2 of my favourites. Tate gallery on Albert docks, cathedrals are interesting too

MummyBear2352 · 21/05/2019 19:32

Liverpool one is great for browsing the shops and there’s loads of little cafes and restaurants that is so cheap .

GeneandFred · 21/05/2019 19:34

Also its the river of light festival soon if my memory serves me right.

Mowgli is amazing and so is Sanskruti. Bold at and Hope St is amazing for food. I think the Baltic Market is overpriced.
