2 DC (5&7) max budget of £2500 for 2 weeks away this year. We usually do self catering in a remote villa in France or Spain with a swimming pool but I feel the kids might like a bit more of a “buzz” around them as I would...plus not really up for all the cooking and cleaning...but AI are SO SO expensive Shock not sure what else there is though, even half board is expensive. I could get an apartment in Benidorm or something on the coast in Spain with huge swimming pools but then it’s the fight at dawn for a sun lounger, crappy expensive food, etc...anyone have any other ideas? I’ve heard of Eurocamp but think they are pricy too...would be much appreciated for any guidance!

We had some fabulous Eurocamp holidays in Normandy and Brittany. Have you actually looked at their website and calculated the cost? Beautiful campsites near the coast with swimming pools and waterslides and children's entertainment.

You could definitely get a Eurocamp break for two weeks in August within your budget. Some of them have great restaurants.

Look for a villa or apartment closer to civilisation? AI is not the only alternative. See if jet2holidays have anything that suits, they do villas and all sorts of accommodation options.

many complexes with pools etc do all accommodation options from SC to AI. B&B can be a good option if you like to eat at breakfast as you can set yourself up for the day and only need one other 'proper' meal and top up with a substantial snack, big ice cream etc.

If you're doing 'cooking and cleaning' on SC, you're doing it wrong. Eat out for lunch and dinner and make sure everyone shares the load, the only cleaning required is keeping the kitchen usable. Couple of supermarket runs for drinks, easy food for lunches or eat out at lunchtime and have bread, ham cheese, olives, crisps etc for dinner.

Some lovely campsites in Northern Spain too.

At that age we went for the Eurocamp option and had wonderful holidays.

Have a look at Al Fresco too - you can use the Eurocamp kids clubs but we have generally found their mobile homes to be newer. I've also heard good things about Yelloh in France but have never used them.

If you find a site you like the look of it is also worth having a look at the site's website as many offer mobile homes directly for cheaper cost (but you can't then use the Eurocamp type kids club).

We've found in France that the Castells brand of campsite is pretty dependable.

Look at Pierre vacances in France, like eurocamp but French owned. Other sites as well of course. The age of your kids is perfect for such sites. Last year prices were around £600 a week in school holidays though does depend which site. You book your ferry separately, need to add petrol and tolls of course - Brittany and the vendee are better as less driving and no tolls in Brittany.

Turkey is a possibility too if you fancy ai look at travel republic and see what they have still - in September (too late for you) I've found ai and flights for £280/head for a week, just before university starts

Thanks so much for your replies, I’ll defo look into Eurocamp, it looks like a lot of fun for the DC’s!
