I have a massive (household) shopping list. Where would you buy the following items?

I move back to the UK (yippee!) in 2 weeks. Ive not been to the UK in 5 years. Where would you buy the following items (medium sized city in the north). And what brand/item would you buy? I'm assuming I wont get finance, so will be cash/credit card transactions....

*King sized bed
*Childs single bed
*bedding for above

• 2 kids bikes - age 7 and 9, sold our beloved iala bikes but 2 new isla bikes are coming in rather £££ *wireless printer *cake tins, baking sheets, roasting tins (ovenware) *reusable shopping bags - this is such a no go out here, I'm actually prevented from taking reusable bags into some shops- you have to leave everything with security before you enter...

I will also need a car. What do you all drive? - not tiny. Ideally 5 doors. I had an Astra before. Didnt like it much, but that sort of thing.

Cheers! My to do list is so long, I fear I'm going to make some snap purchases that aren't fully researched, and will get it wrong.

Really depends on your budget.

I’d go to John Lewis. With such a big list they’ll help you out I’d imagine, ask customer services about it. They price match, so choose everything you want, then google it to find cheaper prices elsewhere.

Alternatively, just use Amazon, would be less hassle?

IKEA? Can get beds and household stuff there.

I bought beds, mattresses, bedding, and kitchen things from IKEA.

Ikea for all but kids bikes and the printer!

Printer - if you want to purchase from a shop then currys pc world. I would probably order online tho.

I have reusable shopping bags from Sainsburys.

If you need things quickly then IKea will have all your bedding and kitchenware at cheap prices which you can replace as needs be as you settle in.

Yeah, I guess a budget would help!
Mid range - the credit card is going to take a battering, but we aren't strapped for cash, and will be able to clear it within a month or 2.

For bikes, there are pre-loved Isla bike groups on Facebook.

Ikea if you want things priced well, or John Lewis for higher end.

IKEA for the beds, bedding and homewares.

Local bike shop for bikes, or wait and join a local FB selling group.

Wireless printer I'd go to John Lewis, or failing that, look at which? reviews and then buy off amazon.

Reusable bags - the first time you do a shop, buy a bag. Then forget it at home, and buy another one. You'll have loads in a jiffy.

Amazon or Curry's for the printer, second had for the Isla bikes and Ikea for everything else.

If you want a mattress in a box from Leesa, Bruno, Eve etc, most of them do Ikea sizes or Ikea may do UK size frames now, they certainly do UK bedding.

That list doesn't seem particularly long really. Are you moving into an otherwise furnished property?

Bedding Sainsbury’s they also do fantastic heavy duty baking trays and tins and reusable bags
Printer Tesco
Car - Skoda, fabia estate, Octavia or a yeti if you like being higher up vw engineering but not the price

If you want to do it all in one go, try Argos. John Lewis for more expensive options.

Going back to "our" house, which has been rented furnished while we've been away.
So, if we didnt ship it out here, it's in storage in the UK.
Beds destroyed by tenants, hence required. Everything else is, apparently, serviceable.....
The actual list is much longer (3 sides of A4 currently) but those are the items I having headaches about, and will be needed quickly.

Beds & bedding - Ikea.

Bikes - Halfords, Decathlon, a local bike shop.

Printer - Amazon.

Cake tins, cooking stuff - Ikea or any big supermarket (Asda, Tesco) with a homewares section.

Bags - buy them in the supermarket as you need them. Or come and raid my cupboard, I have far more than I need as I keep buying the different designs!

You can 9bet it all in Asda, their George range do furniture.

Reusable bags - just buy them when you do your shopping?

Printer - Amazon or curries or tbh wherever you can buy one cheaper.

Cars and bikes i have no idea!

Second the recommendation of an appropriately sized Skoda for your car.

Wilkinsons are surprisingly good for Homeware, Home Sense (homeware only version of TK Maxx) also worth a look, but I find them very hit and miss. I've had amazing bargains in the sales at Sainsburys for excellent quality bakeware - 75% off.

Every supermarket now sells their own reusable shopping bags! Plastic bags are being phased out. Amazon.co.uk is pretty good for baking goods and bedding - and shopping bags :-) Ikea will deliver at a cost, but I think it is per delivery rather than per item so can work out cheaper. Argos also do beds and their delivery service is excellent. Amazon again for the printer, or Currys. Plenty of online reviews. If you need a new car several cars come with long guarantees. E.g. Kia, Hyundai. Second hand is good value, AA has "approved" garages and they will sell warranties too. Good luck!

Will IKEA deliver?? I cant do beds without a car (and probably cant do beds with the size car I'm considering!)
IKEA and JL are frequent mentions. Supermarkets for the smaller stuff. That narrows it down quite a lot, thank you.
