We went last August, me, DH, DS (12) and DSS (14).
We had a really lovely holiday.
The hotel was clean and well kept. The food was really very good, lots of choice and good quality.
The pool area got very busy and if you weren’t down there by about 8.30am then all the sun beds were taken (but we went during peak season - August - so it might be different in May).
The beach was clean and had ample sun beds (free).
The power station next door is... well it’s ugly to be blunt! But it didn’t spoil our holiday in any way.
The on-site water park was fab - the teens loved it. They are not very hot on health & safety though, so if you have smaller kids I would suggest keeping an eye on them. Just things like not always allowing enough time between letting people down the water slides, which could potentially be dangerous at the bottom. We complained after DS was almost hit by a water raft at the bottom of a slide, and they did seem to improve somewhat after that.
The entertainment was fun - basic but the staff were very friendly and didn’t pressurise us to take part all the time.
We took a day trip to Knossos and the town Heraklion, which I would recommend. The hotel arrange excursions but we just got a local taxi (Reception called one for us) and did our own thing - it worked out a lot cheaper and we weren’t tied down to times/pick ups etc. It was easy to get a cab back to the hotel as well.
We also went to Water City (a water park about half an hour from the hotel). Again we just went under our own steam and got a taxi there and back. It was fab! The kids really enjoyed it.
All in all we had a good holiday and I would recommend it.
If there is anything else you want to know op then please feel free to ask.

Thanks so much for replying! Is the hairdryer any good in the room? What is the food like?

The hairdryer was fine - and I have fairly longish hair. Thankfully it wasn’t one of those annoying ones that you have to hold the button down to get it to work! (I hate those!)
The food was really good. The buffet is big and has lots of choice.
Breakfast was pretty much everything you can think of, croissants, pastries, toast, muffins, full cooked breakfast items, omelette station, fruit, yoghurts, cereals, muesli, porridge, smoothies, cold meats and cheese, etc.
Lunch was a selection of lots of things including salads, sandwiches, plus cooked items.
There is a snack bar that opens in between breakfast and lunch and is open all afternoon. Toasties, burgers, chips, sandwiches, salads, etc.
They have a different theme every night in the buffet - Traditional Greek, Spanish, Mexican, Oriental etc.
There was always lots of choice and the food was plentiful.
We were really impressed with the quality.
The pool bar do amazing iced coffee (with or without a shot of Baileys) Smile
There is a traditional Greek restaurant that you can go to once during your stay that is included in the all inclusive price, but tbh we didn’t bother as the buffet suited us fine. It looked nice though.
There is also an Italian I think, but you have to pay for that as it is not part of the all inclusive deal. It looked quite posh!

Hi Poptart and SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc. Hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread. We have booked for end of August and are v excited but also a little apprehensive after seeing reviews on the power station. It is more than we would normally spend on a holiday -we held back on holidays for a few years to make this one special and splashed out to get a family swim up room. A couple of reviews have said in order to get a room in the sun it faces the power plant. Is the power plant too awful to face? Don't suppose you noticed swim up room placements? Were there any fish in the water - the kids love snorkelling. Also I just realised when I booked my son was 12 but he'll be 13 when we get there so will probably need to pay to up him to adult status when we get there which is fine and expected - he looks 10 mind you! Did they check ages of kids on arrival? Did you get transfers or make your own way from the airport? Any advice or tips would be really helpful thank you.
