Sparked off a comment in another thread I've been thinking about homeopathy.
I'm very pragmatic and believe in medicine and science. I don't believe in homeopathy, any more than it being a placebo.
However when I was a teen I had awful periods - we're talking regular flooding, fainting, extreme fatigue and lots of pain. My mum took me to the GP who prescribed me transenamic acid and something else, which helped to a degree. My life was still impacted though to a point that I missed significant time off school each month. My mum took me to a homeopath who gave me a liquid to drink during my period. When taking it I had regular normal periods with none of the above symptoms. On several occasions where I ran out or forgot to take it, the symptoms returned.
I was a teen with no clue that homeopathy wasn't as "good" or legitimate as modern medicine. So why did it work? Even as a placebo, how did it have such a significant and life changing impact on my body?
