You have to work out their entry points and block and fill them.

They get in through the TINIEST gaps. Under doors, through the back of cupboards. Go all around the walls of the house which connect with exterior walls and check...fill any small gaps.

Remove all food sources. That means everything must be kept in tupperware. Your cereal, rice, biscuits, pasta, tea, coffee....anything which is in a packet can't be.

Only tins and jars and frozen food needn't be put in tupperware....everything else...sealed. Also wipe all crumbs up and ban food from all rooms except the kitchen and where you eat meals.

You need to poison the nest. Trapping them won't stop the problem. Use the right poison. Also if the source is a terrace house, semi detached house etc the neighbors also need to poison them. What did the exterminator say?

Thanks for your replys hopefully today I will go around all the house and try and find the hole. The pest control was useless he couldnt figure out where they are coming from as all holes where we thought they can come from are now blocked had the council pest control out too who couldnt figure it out.

It will be very hard to identify the hole, especially if you have floorboards rather than a solid floor. It probably wont even look like mouse sized hole as they can squash through really tiny gaps. Your best bet is to either poison them so they carry the poison back to the nest or get a cat. But you have to get or borrow a proper mousing cat not a useless ball of fluff like I have. Jack Russell's are also quite good at mousing.

YY to the jack russell, if you can borrow a decent ratter. My cross hasn't been trained to catch them, but there's been three occasions in different houses where he's told me about a mouse infestation that had no evidence (droppings etc) and once where they were coming in too, with several caught using traps. It can be awkward if you're a guest at someone else's house...

Or get a good mousing cat - rescues generally have a good idea of which are good workers.
