Do you have an electric toothbrush?

... and would you recommend it?
The dentist has told me to get DS one as he is about to have braces fitted.
All the reviews I read online seem to say they need charging every couple of days, so I’m ideally looking for one that holds its charge a bit longer and isn’t too pricy.

I LOVE my Sonicare. Charge lasts for over two weeks and my dentist always comments on how clean my teeth are. I have ten crowns so it's super important to clean around them really well, and the Sonicare is brilliant for this. You can pick them up for a decent price during sales in Boots, Amazon, Tesco etc.

I got an oral b one from b&m for 6 quid last summer and I haven't had to change batteries yet. Cleans so much better than a normal toothbrush too.

We all have then (2 adults, 4 kids) 5 x oral b and 1 x Phillips sonicare.

I upgraded from from a cheaper oral b to a £100 one at Christmas and like it much more

We all have Oral B ones here. They last over a week between charging bit you can do them at bedtime, clean teeth in morning and pop it back on the charger. The hygienist recommended them and said never to pay more than £30 as they are always on offer somewhere.

Husband, the kids and I all have Oral B ones. The £50ish ones, but they were all bought on sale. We have one charger, and they're only a weekly charge rotation.

Definitely a better brush, and they have a 2 minute timer which is good for the kids.

I have the sonicare - but have just started using the fairywell one following recommendations on mumsnet and so far I prefer it - seems to hold a charge too.

a variation of this one. lasts more than a month between charges - just me using it

USB charge, sonic cleaning

I also use and recommend an oral b £30 model
As I have sensitive gums, I buy the "sensi" heads
I charge mine approximately every 5 days
My teeth feel so much cleaner

Coldandfrosty · 17/05/2019 23:12

Yes. Do much better

WomblesWeArent · 17/05/2019 23:13

We have Fairywill sonic toothbrushes. Trust me once you have tried an electric toothbrush, you will never be happy with a manual. Teeth feel like I have had a dental clean and polish appt. So smooth, clean, the gums have got healthier, too. I am not tempted by the £50 brand name toothbrushes, my Fairywill does the jobs nicely.

Oh and it only needs charging every 5-6 weeks of daily use.

CallarMorvern · 17/05/2019 23:25

We've moved to Sonicare, from Oral B. Much prefer the Sonicare, teeth feel cleaner and it's easier to use, the round Oral B heads feel so awkward. Dentist has commented on my good Oral hygiene after years of problems with my teeth.
DD hated the rattlyness of the Oral B, so she's happier too.
Keeps it's charge better too.

Bluetrews25 · 17/05/2019 23:36

Philips sonicare here. Feel it works better than an oral B. Keeps teeth so clean.

userxx · 17/05/2019 23:43

Tried a fair few over the years but sonicare are the best in my opinion. Just don't drop them, they break easily 🙈
