Tips to get rid of Milia

My daughter (8) appears to have milia all over her forehead and bridge of nose. Any tips to get rid please?

A sterile needle to flick open the surface of the skin and releasing the ball/milia is what they do for adults but given that she is so young you don’t want to cause scarring so I would go to a dermatologist. Your GP will most likely say she’ll grow out of it.

I do an aspirin face mask for mine, but I think at her age I would leave it as will probably just disappear at some point.

daffydowndilys · 16/05/2019 21:53

Thanks, I'm not looking for anything surgical. But it does seem to be getting worse. I wondered whether it's worse some kind of medicated scrub or similar.

I have been moisturising it but it's not got better.

My daughter had a huge one under her eye at about the same age. We exfoliated it gently for a couple of weeks and it gradually worked its way to the surface and came out and resolved itself

daffydowndilys · 16/05/2019 21:57

What did you use to exfoliate?

Here they are.

Watching with interest!

OhioOhioOhio · 16/05/2019 22:02

Clearasil?

Trinpy · 16/05/2019 22:05

My ds had a load of them on and around his nose and they went after a few months. I used a face flannel and a gentle cleanser to exfoliate the area every day.

They can take ages to go though! I had a huge one under my eye for around 6 months then one day I woke up and it had vanished completely without even leaving a mark.

WelshMoth · 16/05/2019 22:11

Are those milia? They tend to be whiter. It looks viral - Id defo see a GP with a special dermatology interest.

chocsaregone · 16/05/2019 22:12

Are you sure they're not molloscum? Have you asked a GP?

chocs my thoughts exactly

daffydowndilys · 16/05/2019 22:14

Really? We saw the GP a while back and he didn't know.

Hmm might see if I can get referred to a dermatologist.

OP posts:
daffydowndilys · 16/05/2019 22:15

Hmmm OK maybe they are.

How do deal with that?

chocsaregone · 16/05/2019 22:19

It's difficult to tell from your pic though. Try a different GP, it might be easier to tell now.
If molloscum been around a while they get a sort of dent in the middle (speaking from bitter experience)

hope it is milia!

keepingbees · 16/05/2019 22:23

I also don't think they are milia. Definitely get medical advice before trying to treat

daffydowndilys · 16/05/2019 22:23

She has had the ones in her hairline for a couple of years, the ones lower down are more recent and seem to be getting worse.

OP posts:
chocsaregone · 16/05/2019 22:26

Agree - def get medical advice before doing anything as you don't want try anything that might cause scarring

Ribeebie · 16/05/2019 22:26

They look more like molloscum from that pic they go by themselves but can take a long time. They are not harmful. Try to leave them as if they go by themselves they won't leave any scarring or anything. If you pick at them she could end up with scars.

GnocchiGnocchi · 17/05/2019 08:31

Agree that they look like molloscum

concernedforthefuture · 17/05/2019 08:33

They don't look like millia.

MrsPear · 17/05/2019 10:34

Molluscum - ds has it on his back although only 2. Good hand hygiene and no sharing towels then leave it alone. It will go.

daffydowndilys · 17/05/2019 19:59

She also has this all over the top of her arms, I thought it was just dry skin. Do you think this is Molluscum too?

OP posts:
WelshMoth · 17/05/2019 20:23

Don't think they're molluscum but I know exactly what you mean. DD's friend had them - really rough at arm tops. I think it was a deficiency in either iron or some other vit.
