The Brexit Party-WTF?

ThunderOnlyHappens · 16/05/2019 17:38

I have met these twats campaigning in the street- took a lot of self control to tell them not to fuck off. I largely keep my remainer thoughts to myself. They have no arguments, they were standing around looking smug and were, unsurprisingly white men. How is that representative of modern Britain?

Oh @Gilbert1A I don't feel like there's much point talking to you about this. You have your opinion, I have mine. Let's call the whole thing (Brexit?) off?

BoneyBackJefferson · 16/05/2019 19:22

It's not all Thanet out there you know?

I'm thinking that you know very little about thanet.

longwayoff · 16/05/2019 19:24

just five bullet points! purlease! pretty please!

Qsandmore · 16/05/2019 19:29

My dad supports them and has been on rallies, I myself am a fence sitter with EU leanings but I work with the EU parliament and have some reservations. If asked is be remain.

We don’t see eye to eye on it but he has reasonable arguments why he voted into the EU and only now votes out.

Oh and he isn’t smug and he LOVES his mixed heritage 2nd gen immigrant grandchildren.

So the sweeping statements because you have alternative views are frankly as misguided and myopic as Farage himself. 2 sides of the same coin and I wish all extremism of any form would go to an island and leave the normal middle grounders alone to be honest.

ThunderOnlyHappens · 16/05/2019 19:33

@BoneyBackJefferson the 2011 census showed that Kent's population is 93.7% white, with black and ethnic minorities (BME) totalling 6.3%

In comparison Leicester has 45% white and 55% BME and Derby has 75.3% white and 24.7% BME in the 2011 census. SOURCE- ONS and the 2011 census report.

Kent, overall, has one of the highest percentages of white centred populations in the UK, and so Thanet, indeed, does not represent multicultural Britain.

The Brexit party were all over town last Saturday by us, very polite, no shouting or rudeness, chatting to allsorts, lots of them were women too, not all men and not all white, incase you were wondering.
I've had their leaflet in the post along with a couple of others. Stuff a bit undecided.

Troels · 16/05/2019 19:37

*Still not stuff

Blondieg · 16/05/2019 19:41

You seem angry and argumentative Biscuit

ThunderOnlyHappens · 16/05/2019 19:41

@BoneyBackJefferson it is also important to recognise that a significant proportion of Kent's population are over the age of 45, 50.4% at the 2011 census.

With over 56% of over 45's and over 60% of over 65's voting leave, Thanet's aging population is also important in understanding the demographics of UKIP and ultimately The Brexit Party. SOURCE-ONS Statistics and Kent Council website/2011 census.

ThunderOnlyHappens

So just census information.

So "no" would have done.

Maybe you would be pleased to know that Ramsgate part of Thanet has just elected has elected Kent's first Asian major?

Or that its council is Labour and green party.

ThunderOnlyHappens · 16/05/2019 19:44

@Blondieg give me a proper argument rather than (virtual) biscuits. This is supposed to be a debate, rather than a sarcasm-fest! I work in statistics and academia- give me something to work with. Tell me why they Brexit Party are great, and I have something to work with. As it is, you are just giving me crappy jammie dodgers.

OP posts:
ThunderOnlyHappens · 16/05/2019 19:45

Ah @BoneyBackJefferson official stats are not good enough for you. Hmm, facts and figures not meeting your 'she's just spouting' narrative. The facts don't lie....people do!

OP posts:
Blondieg · 16/05/2019 19:46

I don't see how you nearly losing your rag because white men dare to voice their opinion is a debate.

ThunderOnlyHappens · 16/05/2019 19:47

Yes @Helmetbymidnight -where is this argument I hear so much of, but with no points of consideration!

OP posts:
ThunderOnlyHappens · 16/05/2019 19:48

@Blondieg still no actual argument then? Just baiting. Skips away Might make myself a cuppa and have an actual biscuit

OP posts:
BoneyBackJefferson · 16/05/2019 19:49

ThunderOnlyHappens

I am not arguing your figures.

I am disputing that they are representative of the political views that the people of Thanet may have.

Or is that to deep a concept for you?

I don’t see your thread as being a debate. You started it to slag off the Brexit party and hoped/expected that everyone would join in and now you’re disgruntled that not everyone agrees with you.

I want Brexit but I’m not a supporter of the Brexit party as such. The majority at the time of voting was for us to leave and all this turmoil and breakaway political parties is because Mrs May didn’t get her finger out and pursue Brexit as the majority wanted her to do.

All this dallying around has been pathetic.

Blondieg · 16/05/2019 20:09

Thank you firemanking, I couldn't instant how the original OP was debate!

Blondieg · 16/05/2019 20:09

Understand not instant
