What do you do when you're hungry?

I always used to eat. But now my pre-DC work clothes no longer fit. Because I've had DC, I said. I measured myself to order new trousers and according to the chart I'm a size 14 Shock I thought I was a 12. I can't deny the weight has been creeping on since I hit 36 so....what do you do when you're internally-gnawingly hungry?
I've never tracked calories before. Should I? If so, best app? Or cut down on portion size? What do you do to stave off the light headed sickly feeling when you've not eaten for a while?

Don’t eat! Hunger will pass.

Yes hunger does pass. I'm obsessed with tea so when I fancy eating I have a cuppa instead. Just as enjoyable for me! When you do eat have high protein and filling food. Don't try and exist on low fat diet food as you'll be ravenous.

Eat an apple.

Eat grapes.

Eat sugar-free jelly (you have to know you will be hungry, and make it in advance).

Drink water.

Drink hot Bovril, as a drink.

It depends what you time of day it is and whether or not I've had something substantial. I tend to have lunch around 1pm and dinner around 7pm - so around 4pm I'd be happy to eat a horse - usually fruit and a coffee sorts me out.

If you're trying to cut down - think more about the quality of food you're eating more over the quantity.

Glass of water and then a glass of milk about 20 minutes later if still hungry.

If you're really properly hungry I would eat!

Maybe it's more the 'what' you're eating rather than how much?

My fitness Pal is good for counting calories. I think it's worth doing at least for a week or two to get an idea of what you're eating, what is an appropriate portion size etc.
